  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Which models/packages have interior wood trim?

i do all my own work but thats because i work on cars & motorcycles for a hobby for years so i know what im doing, now someone else might have to take thier car to a dealer to have thiers removed (recommended)
In addition to the color of the leather (which I am not sure about) that would be a big deterrent to have to pay to have woodgrain plastic removed, and then pay to have leather installed. I don't even know how easy that can be done even by a dealer (is that stuff glued-on?).

i see u are not knowledgeable about these pieces, they r screwed on , the dash is in 2 pieces that goes from drivers door all the way over to the passenger door & then there are the 4 doors pieces which your door panels have to be removed to uninstall/install those pieces, yes it would cost you how much im not sure since i do my own work, but the bottom line is , that is this the interior look you are looking for if not then thats not for u but if so then it might be, you see that brown leather trim doesnt match anything in my car at all but at least the mahgony wood trim would match my steering wheel & piece around my shift knob which to me would have a better look inside of my genesis

It looks more like plastic than wood (becasue it is plastic), and it is quite shinny. Just a word of warning.

I thought I might have been the only one on earth that preferred the "plastic wood" over the leather. I actually purchased a base model V6 primarily because I didn't like the look of the dark red/brown/whatever color it was leather with the black interior (well, not to mention I didn't really want a sunroof either, although I would have liked the Lexicon sound system). I'm just not a big fan of the whole "two-toned" thing. Now I see pictures on the website of black interior with black leather dash inserts which I would have liked a lot better and I might have been willing to get at least the premium package upgrade. Oh well.

now if i had black leather dash inserts on my upper door & dash then i might be more happy to keep my interior the way it is but that brown isnt doing anything for me, i was even thinking about having my seats redone in two tone to match that brown trim but im not going that route as that would be much more $$$ so instead ill just replace my interior trim which having contacted hyundai they want $1200 for the complete set of interior wood/plastic trim

I just noticed that the Equus pics posted elsewhere in this forum show it has the "woodtrim" dash much like the Base Genesis, but maybe it is real wood in the Equus.

Maybe you should get a quote on the black leather.

Do tell us that you were not warned about the reflections from the "wood trim" dash coming in from the right side passenger door. Because of the curve of the dash, there are reflections at any angle you sit at in the driver seat. Personally, I would also consider black leather.

went by the dealer where i got my genesis & they all stopped what they were doing to come out & drool over my genesis i guess they like the up grades that i did , they all wanted to know where did i get the badges, steering wheel emblem etc..., i had to tell em one question at a time, anyway i saw a white genesis they had there with the white leather upper trim & thought it was nice but i still like the wood trim but since im taking my car back friday for my first service i will have them find out the price for the wood trim set & the black leather trim set & see but im 80% sold on that wood trim & that glare off the wood trim from the passenger side door wont bother me much because of my tint on my windows

The glare will not bother you
I never even noticed it
Will have to keep a look out for it
Would that be during the day or at night time
I'm shure it will be hard for me to see because of the window tint
But back to the basics: It looks dam good

I don't want to make a big deal about the glare from the woodtrim dash (not real wood, but plastic) on the US base model. I notice it mainly when driving down a road with lots of trees or buildings on my right and the light varies between blue sky and dark trees out the right side window (direct sunlight is not necessary to cause this). Sometimes I get this rapid flickering reflected off the dash that can be distracting. My windows are tinted, but with a 50% tint (fairly light). When the scene out the right side window is constantly dark or constantly light, it is not noticeable.

Because of the curve of the dash, the reflection always seems to be there (there is some point on the dash that always reflects into the driver's eyes).

For this reason I would prefer the leather if I had a choice (I needed to get the base model because anything with a sunroof did not have sufficient headroom). It would be great if the woodtrim (plastic) was not quite so glossy. I think it is interesting that all the Canadian 3.8 models come with the plastic wood trim, but in the US only the base model has it (except on certain small areas of the center console and door controls where all models have it in US and Canada).
