  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Who has the Genesis GV70 at the TOP of their list for their next vehicle?

Most likely the wife's next car so she won't drive my G70 anymore. ;)
Hers now is a 2020 Santa Fe 2.0T but she likes to drive the G70 more than hers and I do not blame her
I just finished playing w/ the "build my Genesis" in the Korean web site for roughly 52K USD for a 2.5T HVAC very nicely equipped tri
I just built a loaded 3.5 Sport and think it translates to about $72CAD , for some reason the Koreans price their cars at lower comparable levels in Canada vs US so maybe this ends up in the mid to high 60s

That's roughly about 55.7K USD in today's exchange.
We'll see what the actual price set is when the models become available in N. America.
And will it be available in Spring 2021?

^ Likely more power for the 3.5TT in the G80 Sport (and if there is a GV80 Sport), but maybe not for the GV70 Sport in order to differentiate them.
A GV70 with the tuned version of the 3.5TT would be a competitor to the X3M, which would necessitate something beyond the standard "Sport" badge in the G80 Sport. A G80 Sport with that engine would only be comparable to an E53 AMG, but not an E63 or M5.

From the leaks we've seen so far, it sounds like the G80 Sport will be two different cars- a standard G80 with a Sport appearance package (like what is currently offered in the G70 and GV70, and the outgoing G80 3.8), and an actual G80 Sport with the chassis and engine upgrades.

not sure about this ...................a true nomenclature needs to be established for real value and legitimacy. Sport is so generic and thus has been executed with visual design elements mostly , I think Genesis will embrace a true performance sub branding not unlike ///M from BMW ....................they wont cheapen the brand by something less IMHO , they want to play with the Germans and Bierman has the tool kit and budget ...................this will be a really fun roll out !!! Think N and N Line from Hyundai , this needs to be even better ...................respectively !!

Genesis won't establish a performance brand until they have powertrains that can actually match the Germans at their peak. They would need a twin turbo V8 at the very minimum to match M, AMG, or RS. And so far, there is no indication that such an engine will be put into production in any Genesis. The electric versions may be a match in power, but so far there's no indication that Genesis wants their EV's to be performance-oriented.

A hypothetical G80 Sport won't be powerful enough to compete with any performance equivalent from BMW's M. It'll still be powered by the current V6 while the M5 is powered by a twin turbo V8. It's in a whole other league. At best, it'll compete with an E53, which itself can barely be considered a true AMG like the E63.

If the GV70 sells well, Genesis might put in the tuned TTV6 from the G80 Sport, at which point it'll be powerful enough to be considered a true rival to the X3M. Maybe then, they'll consider a performance sub-brand. But that car would have to exist first.

I totally agree , and to be clear I did not say they were going to do this , I'm suggesting that IF they do it , it will be done right , Albert would not have it any other way ............................
PS I have owned both /// M and ///M Sport ( e39 and e60 ) one is real the other is a wanna be !!

I think the GV70 is on the top now , I own Stinger GT and have owned several BMWs including X5 and X6 s but this GV70 seems to tick all the boxes I have .................I was pretty sure the Telly fully loaded was it until they announced the GV70 was getting the new 3.5TT , its as fast as the Stinger but with more practicality and I can tow

I'm in an dilemma now between 2022 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD and GV70 3.5TT AWD. The GV70 definitely ticks all the boxes. I like the way the Stinger GT2 AWD Stinger handles but now I want to see how the GV70 handles next year. GV70 is at the top of my list.

The Stinger GT AWD is a blast and I have enjoyed it for over 3 years ( I have the 1st one delivered in North America ) From my experience with BMW SUVs, a well tuned suspension and proper wheels/rubber mated to a solid engine and tranny will provide a great driving experience as well ..................and a lot more practicality . I honestly used the Stinger as a pack horse a few times and it is impressive with its capacity BUT , no roof racks and no towing ......................I'm thinking the GV70 is going to be an ideal compromise

From my test drive the Stinger GT2 was definitely a blast and I couldn't agree with you more. Thats what I like to hear using the Stinger as how you should as a packed horse. I totally get it and understand. I definitely want that SUV vibe which the GV70 produces.

Genesis is at the top of my list with either the GV70 or G80, but it may be two/three more years before I purchase. Still interested in Tesla, and electric vehicles, so I’ll see what’s available in my timeframe. I have a soft spot for Volvo.
Currently I’m driving a 2008 G35x (original owner).

Yes it is on top of my list with 2.5T AWD
I was just researching 0-60 and quarter mile times for the GV80 , both the 2.5 and 3.5 have exactly the same times !! , which I'm assuming will translate to the GV70 as well , that 4 pot is quite an engine !!

Considering that both Hyundai and Kia are getting dedicated electrics with Taycan-level of performance, think it's safe to say that Genesis will as well.

Interesting. Do you have links I can read?

Who has the 2021 Genesis GV70 at the top of their list?
Probably not me although the picture I saw of it from the side looks like the sharpest small SUV out there. Not sure 15 bags of chicken shit will fit in the back.

I'm guessing even a 65"OLED won't fit in the back if still in box. Mine just barely fit in my RDX and only with the 2 front seats ALL the way forward. That was an interesting 200 mile drive I'm never doing again.

The lease of my Lincoln Nautilus isn't up for another year, and either the GV80 and '70 are the two most likely vehicles I'll move to. The Nautilus comes in right between the two in size. I think the interior of the GV80 is the sharpest on the market at any price, and the front end gobsmackingly unique and sides are stunning. The rear end comes across as a bit more mundane, but maybe it is just in comparison with how stunning the rest of the exterior looks. The GV70 exterior also looks sharp, but not as distinctive as the GV80. It is the interior of the '70 that gives me pause. From the videos I've seen of it, looks like an mishmash, nothing like the serene interior of the '80. OTOH because of its smaller size and weight it will likely handle better and really zip. The seats in the '70 also look different -- they look tighter and less comfortable. But when once more product gets out into the stores I'll head out and take a look and test drive each of them.

I'm really glad to see these two vehicles with powerful boosted V6s. It is increasingly to find this kind of engine these days even in a luxury car. Genesis really seems to have done well in designing these two crossovers (well, the GV80 for sure, and maybe in person the GV70 interior isn't as awful as it looks).

Can you post a link for these times. This really surprises me. I would expect the 3.5 TT to be quicker.

No way...the 3.5TT will be quicker. Common sense.
