  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Why doesn't Hyundai make an SUV with the quality/gas mileage of the Genesis? There are a lot of complaints about the Veracruz concerning gas mileage, appearance, etc. I love my 2010 Genesis and would buy a high quality Hyundai SUV.

There was of sorts. It was called the Kia Borrego and it was a sales flop. No need to go down that road again. It was a good vehicle but not comparable to the Tahoe/Yukon which are currently at the top of the heap.

Was the Borego available after the Genesis and the new Sonata were available and accepted as a great cars, giving credibility to Hyundai and Kia?

Yes... I know someone at work who has an Orange Borrego... it is a really nice SUV, especially for the price she paid.

Not sure if it would've sold more units had it been a Hyundai version instead of Kia. Probably not. If someone around these parts wants a large SUV, they probably buy American - Explorer/Durango/etc.

PS - hers has the same nav system as the Genny - I'm pretty certain.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
During my last oil change, my dealer told me that the Genesis SUV is coming in 2012. Looking forward to that one.

Thank Gawd-- I'm waiting for that toilet in the back seat--

Has anyone noticed the price of GAS. SUV's are a dying bread. Any smart car manufacture is not going to develop a loser as far as sales. Gas is going nowhere but up,up, up.

Gas prices went down $.06 out here!!

I've seen a lot of "my dealer said..." quotes, usually they end up false. So I'll believe this if Hyundai actually announces it.

A Genesis SUV would be like having an Elantra SUV or a Ford Fusion SUV. Genesis is a model not a brand right now and Hyundai says they are not going to create a separate brand any time soon.

The Borrego was an "old style" BOF SUV.

Hyundai will likely get around to a Genesis based crossover (if not 2; or they may split the diff. and go w/ one that is RWD and one that is FWD for the higher-end market), but first things first - they need to finish developing the smaller RWD/AWD sedan, as well as the next gen Genesis and Equus sedans.

Any Genesis-based crossover will be based off the next gen Genesis platform, since that will have available AWD worked into it.

Makes sense... Hyundai sure could use an MDX-killer. Or an RX killer, for that matter.

When was that thing ever updated??? My aunt has one of the originals, and it honestly doesn't look much different than the current version! That car made them some money though, and I could definitely see a Hyundai version - something more upscale than the Veracruz, that's for sure.

There's a SUV called Hyundai Veracruz; it has same 3.8 engine as genesis I believe and it's as luxurious as Genesis. I think Verazruz was targeting bmw x5 and other luxury suv buyers

Depends on which way Hyundai goes - if they go w/ the Genesis RWD/AWD platform, I would suspect that the CUV would be on the sportier side.

Veracruz is more upscale than luxury (about on par w/ the Azera); Hyundai was going after the soft-riding Lexus RX owners, not the BMW X5 owners.

I drove the Veracruz the other day and it is not like a BMW SUV. Frankly, it is not in the Genesis quality league. It is ok, yet we found the new Toyota Highlender a better care.

My wife and I were all set to purchase a Veracruz 3 years ago. We loved the car, but due to the lack of Bluetooth, and Hyundai's crappy 6.9% financing, we went with the Acura MDX. We paid "dealer invoice" (yes, I know that's not the real invoice price), got 0.9% financing for 3 years and a great deal on the 10 year 100K mile extended warranty. 3 more payments and we're done. She absolutely loves the vehicle!

Its no Cayenne, but the new Hyundai Tucson is really not bad. In fact, it was a close decision between a brand new Tucson and a used Gen, and the Gen won out.

I've heard several rumblings of a full size Hyundai luxury SUV with the Tau. Gas isn't a huge issue, the Tau gets great mileage.

I hope the rumblings are correct. I want a nice Genesis quality SUV and would buy one if available.
