  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will current Genesis Models Be Added Into the New Line

Does anyone know if the new Genesis line will incorporate all the current Genesis models?
For 2017 model year, the sedan will become the G80 and Equus will become the G90. The Genesis Coupe will stay with Hyundai brand under a new name.

Other vehicles will be added to the Genesis brand, such as small sedan, and at least one SUV.

Interested to see how all this goes. Guess it doesn't matter much as mine is debadged completely anyway. Can't wait to see the new products that are coming.

I'm not sure this will work out well for Hyundai. Their mainstream cars don't enjoy the same sales numbers that Honda and Toyota had when they added their upscale lines. There much higher customer base was such that dealers were willing to put up stores or take on their upscale lines.

I don't see my Hyundai dealer taking on the franchise for instance. We're in an affluent town of 120,000, but the market for cars like the Equis won't be enough to afford more brick and mortar. He probably only sells a half dozen Genesis's now, but sells a reasonable amount of the other Hyundai's (along with Chrysler's and Jeeps) to have a very good dealership and service department.

They have not made a commitment yet to have separate dealerships. For the time being, they will be sold by existing Hyundai dealers.

Well the crappy outdated Genesis coupe they have now will stay with Hyundai, but the Vision G coupe will replace it under the Genesis brand in 2017 or 2018 MY, with the G60 name.

There will be a smaller sports sedan to rival the IS or 300 series, with the name G70.

There will also be a luxury 5-seater CUV, and a luxury 7-seater SUV.

No need to offend coupe owners here with trash talk.

Also, there is nothing set in stone that the Vision concept coupe will become the G60. Finally, I don't recall an announcement that said they will produce "two" SUV/CUV models. Where did you read that?

I don't think there has been any announcement. But it is accepted principle that automakers need at least one small SUV (or CUV) and at least one mid/full size SUV, so long as gas prices remain anywhere near current levels. But no timetable has been announced as to when they can get that done.

Obviously, if they just redo the sheet metal and improve the interior of the existing Hyundai offerings, they can get to market sooner, and then worry about a whole new design in the future.

In a conversation with the dealer principle at our local Hyundai dealer, he commented that they didn't take on the Equus "franchise" a few years ago due to costs involved.

I didn't say that all Hyundai dealers will carry the Genesis brand starting in 2017 model year. I said that all Genesis brand vehicles will be sold at existing dealers (no separate Genesis dealerships for the time being).

Just curious what you mean by "will the new Genesis line incorporate all the current Genesis models?"

If they are offended what some guy on the internet thinks of their car, that's on them.

There's a bunch of information out there to back up what I said. Google it.

By definition, a concept car is a concept, not the final product. Looking at other Hyundai concept cars, and the actual products that eventually came to market, there is some resemblance, but it not likely to be the same vehicle.

I may not have been clear. Will Genesis models starting in 2016 be start of the Genesis brand, or will all Genesis models, pre 2015 and future, be part of the Genesis brand.

Yes, 2015 and 2016 owners will receive a recall notice, and your vehicle will be rebadged.

Just kidding. The new brand does not take affect until 2017 model year. If you have a 2015 or 2016, you will have rebadge it yourself, or wear a paper bag over your head so no one sees you driving a Hyundai.

ok, thank you. I have a 2012 3.8 v6, with the Tech Package, that is badged on the hood and trunk, and I plan to get the matching badges for my rim in about a month or so. The only flying "H" I have is on the steering wheel.

We'll just call my car the older brother!

Funny, you don't own "any" Genesis model yet and you come here to trash the coupe rides of a good number of our members. You even say that you own a Genesis in your profile. What's up with that?

Just for fun, I'm sure many of us Genesis owners will be adding the G80 badges to our cars when they become available. But you have to wonder how current Equus owners are feeling about the big name change.
