  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will Genesis have return customers

Don't see why not - as seen from Genesis placing #1 on JD Powers' latest APEAL study.

The biggest things that would inhibit return buyers are the lack of a full lineup (esp. CUVs) and subpar customer service/purchase experience - both things that Hyundai/Genesis is working on rectifying.

There are a # of members here who are on their 2nd, if not 3rd Genesis model (starting w/ the original Genesis sedan, getting the 2G Genesis or G80 and/or upgrading to the G90).

I think that will be better once they have a limited number of dedicated dealers. They have 350 Hyundai dealers, some that have little interest in a low volume brand and the things that should go with a luxury brand.

Seems like there are some good dealers, but not enough of them based on stories here. They have to set a higher standard and enforce it.

Think the bigger issue is w/ the 850 or so Hyundai dealerships that sell the G80 as opposed to the 350 or so select dealerships that also sell the G90 (not that all dealerships that sell the G90 do a good job or as good of as job as the better dealerships).

As for Tesla, Musk is asking suppliers to retroactively refund payments to help it become profitable - lol!

Automakers generally don't update telematics software, but that may be changing as autos more and more become tech centers on wheels (at least for within a certain period of time); but as tech/hardware changes so quickly these days, it becomes difficult to allow for updates as the hardware gets outdated.

What annoys me about the Tesla is the Federal Government giving these richie owners a $7500 tax credit.
Maybe it's because people in that tax bracket pay the majority of taxes.

Not going to touch this one although I think you need a new "handle" here if you're going to rant about taxes for the wealthy. Do you really believe all the top bracket tax payers are sucking down Teslas because of the tax benefit?

To put things in proper context, that's b/c the people in that tax bracket have taken a larger piece of the income pie.

Not since the time of the robber barons has wealth been so tied up w/ a small minority of the uber-wealthy (which is why we're seeing the ugly political climate we have been experiencing).

But those who have carried more of the tax burden among the those in the top tax bracket have been the professional class - who make income on their labors.

It's the uber-wealthy who have not been paying their fair share (and they still go thru various means to cut down on what they pay in taxes).

I've got the '13 R-Spec, very fast, handles good, nice options pkg. I was at the dealer 3 weeks ago and the salesmen told me they were the only dealer in 100 miles to sell the G70 G80 G90, the one on the show room was an '18? When I got in it WOW loaded and laid out well. When I shut the door there wasn't much sound, was told they filled the doors etc with sound deadening. Darn, I promised myself I'd keep my car till 2020

Actually, your ‘13, like my ‘12, screens out outside noise very well. Enjoy it, I do!

Maybe/ maybe not.
Here is why they may have a problem, unless they learn from cars like the KIA K900.
The Genesis is a great car, have you noticed the sales are slipping? Genesis is so intent
on expanding their line up, They are forgetting about those of us who have already
purchased a car. They must keep the cars already being sold up to date and attract
customers to these cars also.
Successful brands give updates in the form of software and firmware in existing cars.
There are already advances in some of the features which could be updated. These advances
will appear in much cheaper cars and newer cars that Genesis will put out. Existing
car owners want to feel like the brand still cares about them and not just new sales.
Keeping returning customers is what will make the brand a success.
I'm retired, have the finances to purchase a more expensive car, but also want to save money.
targeting a certain group of people for sales can only attract so many. There are a lot of us who
look for something new, but unless we feel this is a luxury brand that will care about us and
want to give us the best over our entire ownership. Some will not return

Well, they just lost me. I just had my 2012 Genesis 4.6 towed to the local Hyundai dealership and they just didn't seem to care much all about taking care of me. This place is also a Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/Jeep dealership and seem to be partial to those makes. They stated that they only have two Hyundai techs.

I have always thought about getting a G80 or G90, but was alarmed at the lackadaisical attitude of the service writer. I was so disappointed that I actually went over to the Hyundai sales showroom and spoke with the sales manager for about 15 minutes. Well, it turns out that they are not even going to be a Genesis dealer. He tried to assure me that their service department could work on Genesis models. But they don't provide loaner vehicles unless it is for warranty work. Heck, I'm not going to buy a $50,000 and up vehicle if cannot get a loaner car. It looks like the nearest Genesis dealer will now be around 100 miles away, so no can do.
