  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok we know that, the first Gen Genesis was successful in (moderate overlap crash test) and earned 5 star, so now most of you may be aware that there is a new type of crash test the (small overlap crash test) in which the 2015 genny got highest grade from it, so what if they did this test to 1st Gen genesis? Do you guys think it will be successful or will fail?

Given that the 2009 A-pilllar buckles a bit in the moderate overlap, I doubt it would fare as well as the 2015 in the small overlap.

Then again, almost nothing does as well as the 2015 in the small overlap, the A-pillar barely moves and the door is only slightly touched. Passenger compartment is totally intact -- unlike most others.

Yes i just noticed buckling of A pillar, my expectation is that, if they apply this test on first gen genesis it will earn at least acceptable result, because of the fact that the body made by high tensile steel :/

Seriously it may be too late for the IIHS to do the pre-2015 model since this test was invented in 2012. The newer Camry apparently did not fare too well hence its recommendation rating dropped by CR.
At the minimum my estimate the car would earn the Acceptable rating since the car did quite well with other tests.
pre-2014 test results

Kia optima's A pillar also buckles in moderate overlap crash test but in small over lap crash test it earned acceptable rating! I believe genesis will do better job than optima.. [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PmTCxkavzKU[/ame]

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
So if one anticipates that a small overlap crash is imminent and is concerned about the crashworthiness, just steer into the crash to ensure a moderate overlap! :p

Then you know how it will hold up!
