  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will you buy the new 2015 or wait??

Sad to say dealer called “mistaken 2014s for 2015s”. Hell of a mistake. Lots of apologies said not available till October. So there it guys. Well I’ve waited this long.

Time for a new dealer.

I am happy to say my dealer in Canada will be getting one in about 2-3 weeks unless he also is mistaken but I seriously doubt it as I sat down with the sales director and he actually looked it up for me. ;)

That's not unusual. I am pretty sure they knew exactly what they were doing when they said 2015's were in stock because they really, really want people into the showroom to try and get rid of the 2013/2014 models, and they knew he would come if they said they had 2015's.

When I was shopping for my 2009 Genesis, I called a dealer and asked a salesman if they had a sliver V6 in stock, and they said yes. I drove 25 miles to the dealer and found a different salesman and there was no such car in inventory and they had not sold any Genesis sedans that day (it was a flat out lie). Probably better to check the dealer inventory on their website, as they seem to have all that info online now.

2015's should be available by then. But a dealer who has a large stock of 2013/2014's is not going to tell a customer that, in the hopes that a customer cannot wait until October and will by a 2013/2014 now.

That was no mistake. He was trolling for an uninformed buyer. Even if you eventually buy from this dealer, avoid that salesman.

The GM at my dealership told me they are getting 20 of them at the end of this month, it already shows on her shipments and 3 of them are AWD. They are taking 2 of the V6's and making them service loaners per the owner which seems a bit crazy to me.

Might hook in some current owners that way, once they get back in the "old" car.

In what area of Florida are you gameday22? I am on the Treasure Coast and would love to drive to your dealer to sit in one...

Finally…..
Dealer called said a few 2015s were in would I like to come down and test drive. Going there today to look and test drive. Will wait though if necessary for a Red AWD V6 Ultimate.

I'm surprised they're here already. I thought we'd be waiting until May or June... edit - I missed the part where the salesman made a mistake or lied about 2015s being on the lot...

Where are you Ernie - west coast?

He's in New York. I removed a couple of the large images that stretched the screen to the right. Otherwise you would have seen that. :p

Winter Park, FL. just outside Orlando, I didn't ask about colors or how many V6 vs. V8 since it will be at least another year before I look at getting one.

As noted in a follow-up post, the salesman lied and they don't actually have any 2015's. The salesman was trying to get him to the showroom so they can pressure him to buy one of the many 2014's they have in stock and need to unload before the 2015's arrive.

That's pure "Hyundai". Somebody should be notified of this. I totally missed "page 9" of this discussion. :o

That assumption could be very correct. Went to dealers site to view inventory found 24 2014 (19 V6s 6 R-Spec) 2 2013 (R-Spec). That’s a Sh*t load of Genesis.

I was in to get an oil change the other day and spoke to the sales rep that sold me my car. She says that the new Genesis will not be here in Toronto until last week of May or first of June. She will call me when they come in.

Lexus quality noticeably took a dive around the time the third generation GS went into production. The LS430 was a much higher quality vehicle than the LS460 as well. They've addressed these issues in the latest models - to some extent...

Lexus owners, however, have noticed cheapened interior bits on the IS and ES, tho the interior of the GS and the refreshed again LS460 seem to have stepped things up.

I have no doubt the quality of the second generation Genesis surpasses that of the first. To have it any other way would make no sense at all. No progress? Recipe for disaster. Hyundai is still improving. They're not going to rest on their laurels like Cadillac and Lexus have. At least not yet. I won't be surprised if it happens some day - but not right now. There's too much at stake at this point in time...

Toyota hasn't been investing much $$ into Lexus when it comes to new powertrains (esp. for their RWD models) since the potential for return isn't that great - which is why they are seeing their biggest opportunity for growth being in another FWD-based model, the NX.

And I wouldn't say that Cadillac has been resting on its laurels recently w/ the ATS, the new CTS, the new Escalade and the upcoming Omega flagship.

Once the Omega flagship arrives - Cadillac will likely have the sportiest luxury sedan lineup (barring Porsche - which will eventually have a 2 sedan lineup) - tho, Jaguar might take that crown once their compact sedan arrives.

That's a good point. I forgot about that. Yes, more often the first generation Hyundai Genesis was compared to a Chrysler 300, Toyota Avalon or a car like that. That being said, this was still a MAJOR accomplishment for Hyundai. The Chrysler 300 and Toyota Avalon were (and still are) excellent automobiles. To that point in time, Hyundai had never delivered anything like that.

Was more compared to the Avalon on price than anything else and the Azera is still the Hyundai model that gets most compared to the Avalon (and is even sometimes compared to the ES, even tho the Cadenza is more fitting to that role).

I would expect the 2G Genesis to be included in the luxury, midsize comparisons.

I didn't mean to make it sound like Cadillac was still "resting on their laurels". They're not. They're doing a great job these days...

^ Was getting worried there for a moment.

So, is the CTS on your shopping list along w/ the 2G Genesis? (Sportier, but doesn't have the rear passenger room as the Genesis - I'm assuming the Omega is too far out time table-wise.)

Pretty much decided on getting the Monticito Blue with ivory interior and AWD. Only last decision is V8 or V6. Either way it will be AWD, Ultimate package. :D The V8 is nice but need to drive to actually see the difference however I have a feeling it will be quite a bit. A couple of hundred a year in gas difference is nothing for the extra power in additional ponies the V8 brings.

I find it amusing to see people here talk about gas milage when talking about a $50,000 automobile. Now if we were on a Prius forum that is another story. If you do the math and assume 2 mi/gallon difference at $4/g and an average of 8,000 miles a year, it only comes to $152 a year more. Price wise that is equivalent to a nice restaurant with the wife and a nice bottle of wine. Just remove one of those from your yearly budget. :D
