  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wind Noise

Check for slip differential issues, wind noise, or whining noise from bad differential.

Hi, all,

I recently purchased a GV70 and I’m pretty OCD. I’ve noticed the vehicle is relatively quiet, however, I have the larger rims and have moderate tire noise as expected. However, while on the highway, I’ve noticed some moderate wind noise on the exterior of the vehicle. It’s not particularly a whistle and doesn’t sound like there is an air gap, but I’m starting to believe it’s just the vehicles aerodynamic. I live in FL and regularly drive about 75-80 MPH on the interstate.

Have any of y’all experienced this? It varies depending on the time of the day and what I presume to be the wind condition / crosswind at the time.

Is this normal?

I have a 2024 GV70 with the bigger tires. At speeds between 60-80mph, I hear a distinct whistling noise from the passenger A pillar area. As soon as I crack the driver side window the noise goes away. I’m taking it to service next week- the good thing is it easily reproduced as soon as I hit 65ish.

I heard that wind noise you hear is from the mirrors. Not sure if it's true or not. Mine is very quiet but I also have the 2.5t advanced with 19" wheels. I can only imagine the 21's give off more noise bc of more tire surface. Let us know what the dealer says.

I just purchases a 2024 GV70 and hear a bit as well. Not bad, but it's there. Not sure which vehicle is completely free of some type of wind noise, though.

I read about a certain model Rolls Royce that's so quiet it was disconcerting to passengers. So they introduce a little artificial noise to make it seem "real."

I have some wind noise above 60 mph but I'm pretty sure most vehicles have some unless you're spending six figures or more.

Its the biggest let down of my GV70. Wind noise

I have the same problem. Were they able to fix it?

I have the same issue - 2024 GV70. Just completed an 18 hour drive. It’s quiet at 70 mph (depending on ambient wind). It is very noisy over 80 mph. I mean persistently. I expect it to be the same dB level at 80 as it is at 70. I love this car but want the noise to go away. Has anyone received a response from Genesis?

My 2024 GV70 has been to the dealer 4 times regarding a "blowing in a bottle" whistling sound. Each time we think it is fixed, but a day or so later, as soon as we get on the freeway it starts again, even worse this last time. My hood also shakes, but was told there is nothing that can be done about that due to how the hood is made...

My hood shakes/bounces all over especially if there is any sort of cross wind. Very disconcerting !!

Has anyone determined what is causing intermittent wind noise along the roofline of their GV70?

I noticed that on my 2025 GV70, the sunroof, when fully closed, sits slightly below the painted roof surface, creating a dip. I checked several GV70s on the dealer lot and found that most of them have this dip, with some more pronounced than others. I suspect this dip could be a source of noise during high-speed driving.
