  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Window tinting advice?

Seriously considering Huper Optik. I've read nothing but amazing things about this film, but also read that's it's terribly hard to install on a curved (aka rear) window.

The film was designed for windows on commercial buildings and is thicker and stronger than the average auto film, which is why it is so hard to install on curved glass.

Tint humor

I had my 2012 Platinum Rspec done in E TN and actually used the dealer recommended installer. Did a great job on the car including a 6" windshield eyebrow for $160. Agree with comments on 35% tint for this area but in FL many times they go darker, seems ok with the police. My installer used the more costly ceramic coating tint only on the rear window (radio reception) and can't tell any diff from the sides. Tint is a great add and really makes the lighter colored cars look more aggressive.

I've known a few people like that! :)

Yuck, no thanks:confused: I don't get this type of customer which is great! Almost everyone I deal with ask, how much?...and when can you do it?

Must be the personal service vs. being an actual tint shop. Or maybe it's my dazzling smile:D

I am sure that most people noticed the not so subtle slam at iPhone in the animated video. The female customer sounds exactly like the Sari voice service on iPhone, and the guy often says "sorry" back to her.

Honestly, Tom... you should reconsider.

There is a noticeable difference in my back window now that it is tinted, and you're forgetting the rear quarter glass... the rear window and passenger/quarter windows tinted might still make a difference in the overall "darkness" of the cabin, and should reflect SOME heat in the summer.

The only problem with that setup is... you're gonna look "limousiney".

Something to think about though.

I think this particular tint job looks awesome!!! Can you tell me which sputtered metal your dealer used? I kinda want to get mine the exact same way, lol.

This is my 4th car with Huper Optik ESC 35 and I couldn't be any happier with the results.

Is it absolutely necessary to remove door panels when doing the side windows?

No, my installer did not need to remove the door panels.

The only time I had door panels removed was on my 3rd Gen Acura TL. I had the installer apply moleskin to protect the tint as there was no factory felt in place.

None of my panels were removed.
Installation was perfect.
3M product was used.

Regarding removal of panels question, good to know that it is not necessary. Looking hard at Air Blue 80. Good results without hassle of being stopped.

SmoovC-Looks really good. I am applying for NJ Motor Vehicle waiver to get side and front windows tinted and even though I would love to go for the dark tint, I know that the locals will be stopping me every day. Would not get a citation but don't want the hassle.

Even if you got a waiver, I doubt they would allow that low of a VLT.

FYI, I'm sending LLumar an email this weekend to see if I can become a dealer of their ceramic film. I'm guessing no since I'm not exactly a registered business (LLC, Inc. etc.)

You can create a LLC online in MN for $155.00. Apparently no annual renewal fee in MN. The fee is tax deductible as a business expense. Income and expenses of the LLC can be reported in Schedule C of 1040, just like I assume you do now. Any version of Turbo Tax (PC versions) can handle it.

Just tinted this weekend. Wanted Huper Optik 35% all around and the owner of the shop talked me out of it. I did 50% which gets me 35% net which is the legal max here in MD. It looks executive, but not dark enough. It was the adult choice though. :( boo. The girl at the counter said anyone under 25 would have gone for it. Not sure if that was an insult... Still pleased overall and the Huper Optik is beautiful. Will post pics soon.

looking to tint my new acquisition, I live in South Miami, does anyone know of a huper optik tinter in the miami area?? and of the three types that I have settled on, huper, pinnacle, and llumar axcess, is there a big difference between these?? and with a black leather interior, does the tint seem darker when looking in? this is the first time i've had a black interior.
