  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Windshield recall 0208G

That's not correct. If your VIN has been identified as subject to the recall, the part will be replaced. Neither the NHTSA documentation nor the TSB make any mention of inspecting the part and deciding if it warrants replacement based on some criteria. In most cases, the tendency to delaminate probably cannot be observed, and the first symptom of a problem will be a sudden fly-away.
I agree. My vin has been identified and the letter I just received states in part... "Your Genesis retailer will replace the windshield upper molding."

Well, I got my windshield trim recall service done, and as others have mentioned, the dealer did not have the part in stock. They also advised me that they could not order the part until my vehicle was in the shop. Therefore, the service took two business days. Wow. I have to assume that Genesis is being forced to carefully play-out the parts inventory in order to keep the dealers from hoarding stock, but there's gotta be a better way.

[Edited: Solution found! See below.] Also, for some f*cking reason, they completed wiped all my custom settings during the service. Wtf. All the custom radio stations, climate control, EV settings, liftgate custom height (nearly hit the hatch on my garage door), bluetooth, on and on, all of them.

Argh!! After one service I lost all my sirius XM favorites... So for the window trim recall, when I dropped the car off I changed the profile selection to "Guest" in an effort to avoid that. No idea if that actually helped.

Take a look at the repair order. I wonder if they applied a software update. I have had that reset before with one of the 7 updates that my 1 year-old car has had applied at the dealer. I don't find this happening with the OTA, but one of the other updates has caused it.

As for the 2 day routine, my car was at the shop for 13 days for another issue when they completed the recall before I even received the letter. I guess they seized the opportunity to save on loaners. I will say that when I cleaned my car the other day, I can tell it was replaced because there is a very minor dimple near the middle where it clearly got "tweaked" a bit. It is minor enough that I doubt most people would notice, but still irks me a bit.

Ok, I gotta backtrack here! Your comment about the Guest profile prompted me to look closer. It turns out that the service folks had switched the profile to Guest. And since my Guest profile has never been used, it was basically factory defaults. Maybe they were trying to do me a favor and not mess up my own settings (like mirrors, etc), but in the end, their action created nothing but confusion and still caused me to waster my time. Live and learn!

My work is done here... ;)

OK I was mistaken. My car had the replacement done on Tuesday.
