  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Windshield recall 0208G

Mine already came off, but I actually spotted it before it flew off, so I pulled the metal piece off and put it in my car

My car was at the dealer from 1-13 October for another issue. While it was there, they replaced the trim and clips without me asking. So, yes, the parts and instructions exist.

I got the official recall notice by US mail today. Anyone else gotten this done recently? Hopefully the parts are readily available.

I had this recall done a week ago today. Dealership said it was a drop-off, not wait. Also had them do a state inspection. They started on it first thing I think, it was done a very short few hours after (maybe 2?) Honestly I didn't much chk out the trim _before_ it went it, so hard pressed to say there is a difference.

Our dealership had the parts, took about 2-3 hours (had in-cabin filter change and general checkup)

Dealer did our while getting the headlights replaced, again.

Also got the recall notice today. A while back I debated getting the chrome deleted with a vinyl film my ppf installer suggested. Kind of glad I didn't now.

I debated the same thing. The chrome trim around the top of the doors, etc. is the one design element of the GV60 that I dislike.

Should've done the filter yourself. It takes maybe 5 minutes. Super easy

Its been free for me so why not, unless you have to pay.

Oh, if it's free, then by all means, lol.
I've had dealerships trying to charge me 50 to 100 dollars just for installation

Going in next Tue for the recall and a number or other regular maintainance issues. Oddly, the service manager said that GMA insists that the car be in the service department before said dealer can order and receive the windshield trim part (really??). So a loaner I must be assigned. Reading the other posts, I’m starting think that the dealers (who probably make more on service than sales mark-ups) is probably just milking GMA for an extended loaner and service costs. Sad if it’s true. Will report back.

Yes it should be. Now the wiper blades have had mixed results. I do not believe they are covered but some have had them replaced for free.

Same experience with car in service before ordering parts which means either days in a loaner, after waiting to get one, or multiple trips to dealer. #Genesis, this experience sucks.

Just chiming in that the trim coming off happened to me. It happened about 4-5 months ago. Trim went flying off at highway speeds. Luckily no other cars around in back of us at the time. However, we were passing a UPS truck when it happened. We thought it had it do with the truck (or driver) throwing something at us because we couldn't understand what else it could be. Exited the freeway and inspected the vehicle to find the trim piece missing. It became obvious at that point that the sound we heard was the trim piece hitting the rear spoiler area as it departed the vehicle... it was loud. There are some small scratches but nothing too bad or noticeable. It is lease and I did not even notice until I saw the sun hit it differently after the fix. I have no idea if the new piece that was installed, was installed any differently (pursuant to a new 'fix'). Guess I will find out with my next service visit...

Interestingly my dealer contacted me and told me not to come in for my 9:00 am appointment on Monday unless he calls me back to let me know the parts have arrived. He ordered them today and said Tuesday at the latest. I left him a voicemail indicating I will still be coming in on Monday morning and if he doesn't have the parts then I will take a loaner. My impression was they are supposed to do an inspection and then only if they find a problem replace with the new parts. Was that wrong?

That's not correct. If your VIN has been identified as subject to the recall, the part will be replaced. Neither the NHTSA documentation nor the TSB make any mention of inspecting the part and deciding if it warrants replacement based on some criteria. In most cases, the tendency to delaminate probably cannot be observed, and the first symptom of a problem will be a sudden fly-away.
