In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Need to replace windshield in '13 R Spec and price of lane departure option shield v/s regular is double ... will lane departure system work without the option?

Have your insurance company pay to replace it. Also, go with what is the correct windshield.
Check with Safelite windshield replacement. http://www.safelite.com/

+1 Haven't met anyone yet without full glass coverage with $0 deductible on glass only (at least in my region of the country)

I carry a 1000.00 deductible on everything. But some windshields are more.

I just had my windshield replaced Friday. They installed FY brand. The optical and acoustic qualities seem fine. But the tinted band is about 2" deep, so that's worthless, and the trim where it's meets the roof is wavy and crappy looking. Though, that could be an installer issue. I didn't really notice it until Saturday. And today the rain sensor cover fell of during my commute and about scared me half to death. I'll be contacting them about this, the dirt they left on the seats and A pillars, and the right wiper that's parked too high. Does no one care about their work!?

Yep, better call your insurance agent and let them deal with it.

I had my windshield replaced 6 months ago in my previous car Santa Fe 2.0T thru Farmers (my ins. co.) deductible $100.00 ....an OEM heated windshield alone cost ~800 dollars.

$1,000 are for houses:p Cars cost much less then a home and are more likely to be claiming damage on.

In Florida insurance companies are required to provide full coverage on frontal glass as long as you have full coverage.

Dealership broke my windshield during service. It cost them just over $1,000 for the glass alone. It's a Hyundai specific part, there are no other makers (at least per them, and trust me dealerships have no problem with outside glass).

$1000 deductible insurance is a lot cheaper than $250 deductible.

For some maybe, but $250 deductible is only $110 a year difference on my insurance. The $9/month extra is worth every penny IMO.

So you pay 110.00 for 750.00 more of insurance coverage on one car. I am covering 5 cars so 1000..00 Deductible saves me a lot. I hope the op.lets us know.what he did and how it turned out.

I hear ya Stone. I'm only covering 3 cars. My wife works in the insurance biz and one thing I learned from her is how much insurance companies love customers with very high deductibles. The dude I carpool with has an '08 Civic with $2,500:eek:

I don't think there is one correct deductible for everyone. It just depends on how often people make claims, and what their acceptable level of risk is.

My collision deductible is at $1000 but my comprehensive is at $100 deductible. In a collision the damage will be thousands of dollars so I can cover my $1000 but the comprehensive I use for windshied replacement and other minor stuff like that. With $100 deductible I can afford to regularly replace my windshield (like every year) since the trucks on the highway are unforgiving. Also, the difference between $1000 and $100 comprehensive deductible for me is only $136 a year (for the genesis) so I save myself $740 each year if I replace the windshield once per year.

My wife mowed a mailbox down last fall and the windshield got broke. The auto body place did a really nice job on the repairs and paint matching, but the LDWS wouldn't work correctly. They sent it to the dealer for calibration. They worked on it a couple of times, including changing out the $900 sensor. When that didn't do it, they went to put the original sensor back in and managed to break the windshield again. The replacement was a Hyundai part and the LDWS with the original sensor then worked fine.

My car policies have a $500 deductible, but full glass coverage.

i had to replace my dirver side window. i went to hyundai and bought one from factory.... i dont trust safelite or what ever company because if they make an aftermarket they will use aftermarket. get OEM unless u dont care then get aftermarket. it will save you a lil dough.

Not all after market windshields are bad. I have had Safelite replace several over the years. I always request OEM quality and at least three times the windshield Safelite installed was manufactured by the same company that supplied the oem windshield. In other words, its was the same windshield without the logo of the car maker on it. Doing a little homework can save a lot of money.

safelite will have oem quality but it isnt the oem window is what im saying. i dont want aftermarket without all the labels on it. it would look kinda funny to me when i see my door window without the factory labeling and its blank but thats me, brfatal said that they dont make aftermarket anyways from his hyundai rep. if he wants oem then i would go to hyundai and order the oem and not safelite because they dont use oem. on their website they state they use oem like quality windows from a different manufacturer but same quality and standards. i contacted safelite and it would of cost me more to get them to do it than me going out to buy the oem and pay a company to do it. saved some money not using a big time company and used a local glass replacement shop. i would go with oem but home of stone says safelite is good. they might be but they charge way too much for service and non oem parts. saved 75 bucks doing my own purchases and research a local company plus im helping local business.
