If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone had to replace the windshield on this car? I had a rock crack mine and it seems like it's going to be an ordeal. The dealer has to special order it then a windshield company has to come to the dealer to replace it and then the dealer has to recalibrate all the sensors. I'm worried they are going to mess something up.

I had mine done last year for the same reason. However, my dealership told me that don't do windshield replacements and referred me to Safelite Autoglass. My insurance company took all the information from me about the car and options and ordered the windshield to be delivered to Safelite.

Got it installed and haven't had a single problem relating to the windshield or any sensors [wipers, auto high beam lights etc.].

"recalibrate the sensors" is an opportunity to charge your for something they aren't doing. They need to connect some cables and make sure the sensors and cameras work. If they worked before - they will work after. It isn't any more in-depth than that.

Also - check with your ins. co. Mine wants you to use "preferred" vendors on both glass & body work

The Dealer replaced mine under warranty due to distortion. They had to order the glass and then sent the car out to an auto glass shop. Came back perfect. No leaks or any other issue.

Only issue I can think of is HUD. If have, takes different w/s.

I had mine done a while back. Glass company had to order the part from the dealer, and it took over a week to get here. They reinstalled all of the sensors, and they work like before with no re-calibration.

Safelite had the best price I could find for my 2012 Equus. I had it repaired with the clear resin, but will replace it sometime in the near future. Quoted cost was slightly over my $500 deductible. (From memory, about $580)

I had mine replaced 2 days ago. The part alone cost $1995 plus tax. After all said and done it came to $2850 with labour and taxes. My windshield got hit with a fly ball at a park. I read some where that the dealer won't honor warranty if using an aftermarket windshield in regards to parts that are associated with the windshield. Also my car has the HUD. So it cost twice as much as the one without the hud.

I have mine replaced and the automatic lights don't work. the light sensor and rain sensors are failed. waiting for replacement there...

I had mine replaced about a month ago and today we had a heavy rain storm. The Auto Wipers would only swipe about once every 30 seconds. It was impossible to see until I turned the wipers to "on".

Is the Auto wiper setting supposed to operate continuously during a downpour or only do one swipe at a time?

It automatically adjusts the speed to the amount of rain falling, here's the little section about it from the manual:

Windshield wipers
Operates as follows when the Engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position.

MIST : For a single wiping cycle, push the lever upward and
release. The wipers will operate continuously if the lever is held in this position.

OFF : Wiper is not in operation.

AUTO : The rain sensor located on the upper end of the windshield
glass senses the amount of rainfall and controls the wiping cycle for the
proper interval. The more it rains, the faster the wiper operates. When the rain stops, the wiper stops. To vary the speed setting, turn the speed control knob (B).

LO : The wiper runs at a lower speed.

HI : The wiper runs at a higher speed.

Then mine obviously does not work as designed! Thanks.

So what is the beat wa to go about getting windshield replacement because of rock chips i have the 2015 model. I live in AZ so we have $0 deductible on windshields. I know on my previous cars they try to give your their brand of windshield instead of OEM. I know for our cars we have rain sensors and i read somewhere once rain sensor has been detached you need new rain sensor.

I had a rock hit mine today, I will be getting quotes.
No insurance? I have full glass coverage and called the insurance agent. They took care of everything and it was replaced the same day. They come to you.

A $2000 bill is not something I'd report to insurance., especially not if you have a $1000 deductible. You have to make your own judgment about where your cut off is, but I enjoy cheap insurance.
