  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wing Logo and the V8 Wheels - A Theory

I may be wrong, Ron, but as Richard suggested, it sure looks like a protective covering is still on the caps. Look at photo "Cap03"...you can see it clearly on the right side (3:00 orientation)...unless you're saying the black plastic is still blistered underneath the protective layer.

The black center still has the plastic protective cover, but I think he's talking about the blistering on the silver part of the cap. Look to the left, not in the center, in the silver paint. The silver paint is chipping off a bit.

Before you posted the pictures I made a guess that you may need to remove the plastic protective film. You take such good pictures that I am now pretty sure of it.

There is a very thin Seran Wrap type of plastic film that is put on to protect them in shipping. You need to peel the plastic film off.

One of the guys who first got these things said that it took him longer to get the protective film off than it did to put them on his car.

I still only see the plastic on the center of the cap. If you look at his 'Cap02' photo (where he really zooms right in on the defect), it really does look like the silver paint is blistering/chipping in that spot.

I agree with Richard. These caps definitely have plastic on them. Can't really tell about the apparent chip in the silver area until the plastic is removed.

Carefully take a blade [x-acto knife is perfect] and poke the bubble in the center of the black part. Get your little finger in there and peel the plastic outward towards the edge. It will look soooo much better. :D

Everyone is correct - I put the plastic back on the center (black w/logo) portion of the caps. The defects are on the silver outer portions. Take a close look at each pic and ignore the center wing - I know that is hard to do :)

Yup, it sure looks like there's a defect on the outer silver part...enough, I'd say, to warrant replacement by KAI. I've corresponded with them a couple of times regarding various issues and have found them to be cooperative (although it can take 2 - 3 days for an e-mail response). Someone else on this site had a bad experience with them, though, but I don't recall the particulars nor the outcome...you could probably search on "KAI" for that posting. Good luck.

BTW - does anyone have pics of a Titanium Gray 3.8 with the Genesis Wing wheel caps?
