  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Winter wheel & tire packages?

I'm seriously considering just buying another beater for winter driving. Will cost me a little less than a new set of rims and tires for my G70, and if someone runs into it I couldn't care less.

Keep in mind that winter tires are basically free in the long run -- if you had all-season tires, you'd be putting all your miles on one set of tires, and you'd have to replace them twice as fast as if you divvy those miles up between two sets of tires.

^All good points. I suppose I just resort to thinking about methods like that because I've done it for so long. I'm pretty well versed in buying and selling used beaters that I couldn't care less about.

If you have Casablanca White, then the Pearl White Fast Wheels FC04A in 18x8, 5x114.3, +40, 72.6, 18.6 lbs (FC04A-1880-65WV-40C726) are nice. See <https://www.fastwheels.ca/productin...brembo)_s_pp&dm=18égrale)+(brembo)_s_pp&dm=18 > . . . also available in Matte Bronze, Metallic Black, & Titanium. Don't forget the TPMS. These nice rims are available for less money on a lot of sites in the US and Canada. The Genesis parts store in Kelowna, BC will also sell them (and price match), if you prefer to buy from Genesis.

Four 215/45HR18 Michelin X-Ice XI3s (preferred) or 225/45HR18 Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3s all around are perfect for winter.

For normal summer driving, the stock Genesis G70 3.3T Sport AWD rims are ugly and an embarrassment. Fast Wheels FC04s as per <https://www.fastwheels.ca/productin...port+(traction+intégrale)+(brembo)_s_ww&dm=19 > (Titanium flavour) are nice. Front 245/35ZR19 and rear 275/30ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4Ss with TPMS complete the picture . . . but hey . . . it's your money.

^ looks are subjective, and the sport 5-spokers are growing on me, but you can't argue with the ease with which they can be washed. as well, the 5 spoke wheels make it possible to clean the shiny read calipers! i've never had wheels as easy to clean as these ones.

i'm also grateful for the dark colour due to the excessive brake dust that my Sport pads produce.

From everything I've read, if the wheel + tire combination is the wrong diameter, it'll throw off your ABS and traction control systems, so isn't recommended.

It may not affect these systems, i'm not sure but you are basically just altering the real world speed compared to tire rotation speed which the ABS and traction control likely read from. The difference from a marginal diameter change should not significantly affect any main system. My 2 cents, could be wrong.

I'd be mostly worried with wheel clearance increasing the diameter in this case.

As far as I understand it, you just need to keep the front and rears the same diameter. If there is a big enough difference, then yes, it most certainly will throw off your traction control, even if you have a RWD car. Doesn't matter what diameter it is, just has to be consistent. If it's substantially bigger or smaller than stock, then it will only throw off your speedo.

Edit: Some food for thought, the OEM Sport trim rim/tire combo is 26.1" diameter up front, and 26" rear. So evidently the drivetrain allows for a little bit of flexibility.

Do you work for Fast Wheels?

+1. They've definitely grown on me too. Those fast wheels look nice, but damn am I glad I have the 5 spokes for cleaning purposes.

Yeah...no kidding. Some idiotic statements to say the least.

You don't want white wheels on a white car? You could paint the tires and chrome trim white and look like you're a very low cloud :roflmao:

As you are "flying" along in your G70? ;)

Well the one thing that stands out is the fact that he says "your money", etc. What he failed to realize is that the rims he calls ugly come with the car...LOL. You don't pay for anything. So yeah...wasting your money to buy extra fugly rims.

There's always that one genious...LOL

FYI, you can get a set of 18" wheels and good winter tires for the G70 from The Tire Rack for under $1,200. You just have to use a Stinger GT in the configurator, because the G70 isn't in their system yet. But the Stinger and G70 use the same wheels.

Can anyone recommend a place in Mississauga or Etobicoke that will buy, install, and store winter tires? Also, did it take a long time to get the OEM rims in stock?

I used to use SimplyTire for my old car, but I read the new owner is not as good.

I’ve been consistently impressed with KAL Tire

Can anyone confirm that if using OEM TPMS sensors on the winter wheels that the car will re-learn automatically vs. having to take to the dealer to get them re-programmed?

I just read yesterday on the Stinger forums that they do re-learn on key start, no dealer coding or anything like that required. I'm assuming it is the same in our case.

Just ordered a set of Touren TR60 rims (canadawheels.com) & TPMS from Amazon (52933-J5000 OEM). Searching for this part# right now I just saw another G70 forum stated the OEM TPMS will automatically pair.

I bought a winter setup from Tirerack in January, the TPMS auto-detected right away. No dealership or special reset needed.
