In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I just got my new 2013 R-Spec last week, and I'm already starting to look for winter wheels and tires. I just want cheapo winter wheels that can withstand our winters so I don't ruin my good rims, and some tires that support spikes. However, I'm having a real hard time finding them in Canadian dealers.

I've upgraded from a '09 Sonata, where I could just take it to Canadian Tire and buy winter rims and tires cheap, but I guess that's not possible now?

I've tried:
Canadian Tire
Costco
1010tires
TireRack does have them, however they're not cheap. Alloy only and it's going to cost me $2000.

I want something like these:
http://www.costco.ca/Steel-Wheels.product.100018256.html
but it's not clear if any of these will fit on a sedan. About $80 each.

So, I also guess I need to add a tire pressure sensor for this car, when buying new tires? That's what tirerack website said. It makes sense.

There are some people who occasionally sell the Genesis 17" base wheels on this forum. I have also seen them on sale at a Korean Parts site (as posted in a thread recently). But not sure how cheap you are looking for.

If your car is Canadian, then you don't have the tire pressure sensor.
Just for your info, bought my car 1 month ago and did shop for winter wheels and tires. I downgraded from 18 to 17 wheels and tires, cost was $1250.00 cdn.

It is Canadian, but I'm pretty sure the sensor is standard equipment on the R-Spec. Can anyone confirm?

I had looked into steel wheels but they aren't available in sizes bigger than 15" and they would be very heavy. I had done some research for winter wheels and found a site that mentioned several wheels that held up well in winter (sorry don't remember the web site). Enke wheels was one of those mentioned but I put them on my summer tires and used the stock rims for my winter tires. I got Dunlop Graspic winter tires and they worked very well last winter in Minnesota, they are also very quite. (I put Continentals on for my summer tire).

This is a great wheel in an 18" size. A 17" wheel will not fit an R-Spec due to brake clearance.

I had this wheel as a dedicated winter wheel on a 2011 BMW 5-series that. It was great looking and (although Chinese) outperformed the 19" BMW wheels that could not survive potholes without denting. (See photo) I used it with a Michelin X-Ice Xi2. $134 USD each - I don't know about Canada and TPMS requirements.

If I continue to live in the dark frozen tundra of Minnesota, these will be my next wheel purchase for a dedicated wheel/tire combo.

Re: Winter Wheels and Tires any Bostonian's out there?

We just were walloped with a winter storm, and I'm still debating about winter wheels/tires.. If I wait a day, I can get through. My driveway ramp with a 30 degree slope upward was not plowed, so I disabled ESC and shifted to 2nd and it was manageable. Not clear yet if they are worth it ($2000 for 18" package), I only really drive to work and within 10 mile ranges mostly local and highway 30 miles back. Any experiences or opinions on this situation would be welcome.

I had fitment issues with 17 inch rims on a 2009 4.6.
the offset in the front needs to be 35MM unlike you will not clear the caliper, which is why steel wheels are a no-go. I imagine the R-spec brakes have the same issue.

In quebec, we HAVE to have winter tires from dec 15 to Mar 15, so I had to bite the bullet and get 18's.

PS: My 2009 4.6 is Canadian and the TPMS is standard equipment.

I have discovered as you have that there are no "cheap" tires for this car. I ended up just putting snows on the stock rims and will get my summer tires remounted in the spring. I would not recommend going with cheap snow tires as I have found that cheap snow tires are really no better than a good all weather tire in the snow. My personal all time favorite snow tires; Nokian WRG3's.

BTW my car was purchased in Canada and there are no tire pressure sensors on my car.

Assuming there isn't a huge difference between the WRG2 and the WRG3, there's a huge difference between the WRG3's and a good set of winters. I'm running blizzaks on my Genesis and they are so much better than when I was running a set of WRG2's on my Acura before.

10+ inches of snow today for unexpected work activities. Running Blizzaks LM60 (two are new).. Genny was a machine. No problems.. Hills, stopping, turning. So deep, the bottom of grill pushed snow along. Much than Expedition on Goodyear triple tread all season in 2WD. As good as 4WD, except for lack of clearance.

First time with this set up. I am sold.
