    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Winter is still a ways off but I need to locate a set of wheels for winter use as winter tires up here are mandatory. Not looking to spend a fortune obviously. Any body out there have an 18" OEM set they want to get rid of? PM me if so. What about aftermarket less expensive stuff that will fit the massive calipers on the V8. Would definitely prefer 17" for the winter if they would fit. All suggestions are appreciated and more than welcome.

I bought a set of OEM 18" from ebay.... around $600 I think...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If you search on winter tires you will find threads with recommendations including required offsets...

17in rims will fit on the v8. but you must follow the offset requirements....

Many sources of rims for less than 400$ for the set... there are a number of winter tires out there, I choose blizzak...

Thanks for the replies so far. Are you sure 17" wheels will fit the V8 genny? I know some here have already tried the V6 17" wheels but the bigger calipers on the V8 won't clear so basically they do not fit. I checked out tirerack but they do not even offer a 17" for the V8 genny.

17" wheels will fit the Genesis but be sure to order 7.5", not 8". I made this mistake last year - the tie rods will scrape the wheels at full turn.

Which 17" wheels did you order?

Midnightsun,

I have 17 wheels on my V8 with winter tires on them.
They clear the calipers no problem.
I bought them from the dealer for $125.00/pop

I wish I remembered what they were...
If you really need to see them...I can go to the dealer and take pictures of them for you.
They store them for me.
Dealer is Hyundai in Brossard.

Regards,

Not sure if your question is directed at me...I bought them from Tire Rack, believe they were the Elbrus brand. Direct Tire didn't know at the time that 8" wheels would scrape the tie rods, so I returned everything and will be ordering again in the next few weeks.

Definately interested. Please take a pic or get the brand from the dealer through a simple phone call if possible as the 17" is a much better choice for winters. Thanks in advance.

These are from a 2009 Genesis V8 TECH. I purchased the set with tires (1500 miles) from DUB as they customized 2 Genesi for a SEMA show in Vegas. I know of no other car with these rims. I like them a lot. Check out the YouTube clip of these very rims and the breakdown customization.

I got my 17" wheels from a local speed shop. Tried them on my big calipered V8 and they fit like a glove. Unfortunately they are no name china brand so I can't steer you to purchase the same but will do fine for winter use. Will post a pic when I get them on in a couple of months. Tires are the 17' winter extreme contact as posted above. Bottom line, 17" fits no problem on the V8 depending on the model chosen. Cost was $125 ea which is pretty darn cheap here in Canada.

Why did I downsize to 17" for winter?

It is always a good idea to get a higher profile tire for winter as traction is better. Only way to do this is to downsize the wheel diameter. There are only 4 winter tires available for the Genesis in 18" size whereas the 17" had dozens to choose from and much cheaper. I was also able to choose the tire and brand I wanted since it was not available in the limited supply of 18".

For comparison purposes I will compare pricing on Blizzaks since they are offered in both 17" and 18" to fit our Genesis. Price difference between them at tire rack pricing is $83/tire more for the 18" . The winter wheels end up being almost free by going with the 17". :eek:

I have 18" Blizzak's and happy with the performance. GO thru Snow!

Tirerack recommented for 2009 Hyunday Genesis V8 4.6L
--> Elbrus I02 17" w/
--> Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D - 235/55-17
--> tire pressure monitor

Are these the Silver Machined w/Ice Coating? Tire Rack advised me not to go that route as silver machined are more prone to rust from salt if you get them dinged up at all.

Thanks...

I got a set of 18" Bremmer Kraft BR05's from TireRack: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...&wheelModel=BR05&wheelFinish=Black+w/Mach+Lip
$165 per with TPMS. Had a set of Blizzak LM60's mounted and road force balanced at my local Goodyear dealer. I think they are going to look great when I put them on later this fall, and the Blizzaks should keep me out of the ditch. I got a Racor Heavylift storage rack for my tires - crank it down from the ceiling, load/unload your tires, and crank it back up. My other choice was to schlep 8 55# rims/tires to the basement and back (four up and four down)twice a year.

Great choice in wheels....I'm going with something similar (Linea Corse LC818)
That's why I'm selling my Stock wheels and tires as well as the 18x9 TSW Vortex wheels I bought at the beginning of the year.

I looked at the Bremmer Krafts too. Obviously, a very similar wheel.
