In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. First post!

I am not a big fan of my hi-gloss wood trim on my 2015 3.8 Tech. The guy that tinted my windows also does vehicle wraps on the exterior and inter parts. I would like to have the "wood" wrapped in a Carbon Fiber look and he said it would be no problem. Should be about $150-$200.

Anyone else do this or better question is has anyone ever removed the "wood" dash and door trim?

Thanks in advance.

I just hope it doesn't come out looking cheap. You might not like the wood trim, but at least it goes well with the car. I've seen some cars that have full buyer option what goes in, and the buyer puts in a yellowish wood one a gray dash. Looks like ass. I like how Hyundai pics the best stain for the interior.

Post some pictures once you get it done.

The Azera a had came with carbon fiber look and I thought it made the interior look cheap.
The fiber look is mostly found in lower price cars ...but if you like it go for it

It's not wood, it's wood grain plastic. But I assume you know that. The Ultimate has real wood trim (at least the V8 Ultimate does, not sure about V6 ulitmate).

For the amount of money you were quoted, I suspect the installer will use a stick-on material, and the old trim does not need to be removed. Also, I doubt it is real carbon-fiber, but not a problem "if" it looks good. Get a sample and spend some time to look it over.

He won't be "removing" the wood trim for that price.

I think on a car like this wood goes well with the interior. You'll get what you pay for, just make sure if it looks ghetto it can easily be removed. Curious to see pictures though.

The real wood is actually quite stunning. Hyundai made a great move in having real wood on all models in Canada except the most basic model available which comes in faux wood.

Stick on carbon fiber? no thanks, even the faux wood looks great in comparison but tastes do differ.

Well then I wonder if I can order the Ultimate package real wood to replace the plastic wood.

my tech package has the faux wood. The ultimate wood looked so good. I really wanted it, but the Tech had what i "needed". The Ultimate was just extra niceties that i could live without. I bought the Hyundai to save a little money.

You can order any Genesis parts at a Hyundai dealer parts department. However, it will probably be costly, especially the labor.

Surprised to read that any 2015 Genesis in North America has plastic wood grain on the dash. All Canadian models regardless of trim have real wood and aluminum. I cetainly wouldn't cover the beautiful wood with carbon fibre or anything else. I had read complaints about the plastic in Australia and New Zealand, but assumed this was because it was easier to do plastic for the small market for their right hand drive vehicles. I am increasingly appreciating the difficulty in comparing the vehicles equipped for different markets, even ones a closely integrated as Canada and the U.S.

Check out this web site for all kinds of finishes

http://www.wooddash.com/category/HYUNDAI_Dash_Kits_GENESIS
The finishes at that website are all glue-on ("3M adhesive with built-in promoter"). That doesn't mean that they are bad, but I would wonder how well they fit at the edges, especially if not placed perfectly the first time.

Also, I can't tell if any of them are real wood. If they are real wood, they very thin, since the are glued-on.

Personally, I think Hyundai should have used matte finish plastic instead of the high gloss. For one thing, the high gloss scratches very easily.

Not sure what you are trying to say, since Canada is in North America.

The 2015 Ultimate trim level in the USA has real wood (first time on any Genesis in North America). The other trim levels have wood grain plastic for 2015.

For the first generation Genesis (2009-2013) in the USA, the Base Trim had wood grain plastic, and all other trims had leather insert. I think 2014 may have been a little different.

For the first generation Genesis (2009-2014) in Canada, I believe that all Genesis trim levels had the wood grain plastic, except the V8 Tech Package or R-Spec after 2012. I remember that several Canadian members on this forum were trying to figure out how to switch out their leather insert with the wood grain plastic.

The decisions on these matters are made by the local marketing company/importer, which is Hyundai Motor America for USA, and Hyundai Auto Canada Corporaton for CA.

I have used similar stick on's and they always looked great...You could not tell it from factory install..... I never liked the matt finish on the Genny...It looks unfinished
The complete kits are over kill I would only use on doors and maybe a few other areas. On past purchases I was able to order the pieces I wanted
