  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Last I heard, Hyundai Motor America said that not all dealers will sell the new Genesis branded vehicles. Only about half of the dealers now sell the Equus, so it might something similar to that, but that is just a guess.

3 of the 4 dealerships here have a total of 5 Equus' on the lot according to their online sites (4 black and 1 white FWIW). It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. Hopefully us current owners don't get lost in the shuffle.

I would strongly suspect that current Genesis owners will continue to be serviced by all Hyundai dealers. It's still a Hyundai Genesis until the G80 is released.

I would buy a Genesis again. I have enjoyed the vehicle thus far. However, I'm not sure what pricing will be once the Genesis becomes it's own brand. If the price goes up significantly, then I would be somewhat hesitant to purchase another.

I guess my point was by taking it to a dealer that sells the newly branded Genesis cars in the future, even though it's the Hyundai Genesis and not the Genesis G80, I would hope those particular dealerships would provide a higher level of service to us G2 owners than Sonatas, Velosters, Accents, etc.

I voted no. While a nice car I'm annoyed by the wheel issue (flat spots every-time I drive even with Michelin tires), the A/C stink that never goes away (and can't be fixed) and the largeness of the car. At 6'3" I struggle with the enormous A pillar blind spots. I'm more than likely going back to a Volvo when my lease is up. But I am very impressed with Hyundai products and people. May go back sometime.

Sorry for your poor luck with the G2....I have 16K on mine since last May and love it....maybe I got a Wednesday car.....didn't have the flat spotting (maybe the Florida warmth).....no AC smell...just a comfortable ride in a stylish car with more gadgetry than I need for much less than it would cost in an E350 or A6.....I may wish for a way to make an early exit from my lease to a G80 or 90.

Love my Genesis, but in retrospect I would've waited for the 2016. I have the signature so I wouldn't be losing anything except maybe the rear shade. Windows are pretty dark all the way around so I barely use it anyway. But I would have those sweet LED DRLs.

But I would have those sweet LED DRLs.

Same - I plan on getting them installed after it warms up in May. Parts aren't too bad, just need to find someone with wiring experience. Saw on another thread someone had them wired so they could turn them on/off independent of the rest of the lights.

I think you are referring to the fog lights rather than the DRLs

Yes, thanks for the correction.

On a side note, just saw a nice Genesis commercial during halftime of the Clemson-Bama game. I assume it's a new one considering it's a high profile game, then again I don't watch a ton of TV.

I think you are referring to the fog lights, which are relatively cheap. I plan on getting those also and wiring them independently. However, I was referring to the LED strip in the headlights that are now the DRLs vs ours which are the amber lights on the inside. The amber seems so out of place when every other light in the front is white.

Thank you as well for the correction, Reggie! I was thinking fog lights since that is a cheap and easy fix and something the 2015 3.8 is missing completely.

I was initially intending to wait for a 2016 after they worked through the bugs, but found a nice price on a 2015, large enough to not worry about any minor changes between the two years. While the LED DRLs are much nicer than the amber, I'm not paying several thousand more for them. Just my personal opinion.

My bad! Got called away from the computer mid response so I didn't know somebody had already posted a correction in the meantime. Wasn't trying to be that guy!

I wish the headlight replacements were cheap. I heard that supposedly the price to replace them would be >$3000. Whoa!

haha no problem. I didn't mean to be that guy that glazed over another comment that I responded to.

if true, my amber lamps look great for $3k!

I'm virtually positive that the headlights themselves are the same for 2015/2016 - it's the wiring harness and upstream electronics that controls the DRL signal path that are different and that makes it difficult, if even possible, to get the LED DRL's functional on a USA 2015.

I'm happy with my Genesis and would buy again in a heartbeat. I'm waiting to see what the G70 will bring to the table as the Genesis is a bit on the large size for a single guy. I hope the Genesis brand stays true to what got them here and keeps the prices in check. We see how well raising prices to match the competition has worked out for Cadillac

A lot can happen in 3 weeks - buyers remorse, the wheels fall off, etc.

I waited a long year to buy mine and couldn't be more happy with the decision. I've put on about 1,500 miles so I've had a chance to get a good feel for everything.

Good point, especially the buyers remorse. Very true.

My vote was a Yes for the G2. That is not to say I wouldn't buy the G80 or G90 though :D

I voted “not sure”. In and of itself, it’s a great car and I don’t regret getting it. I’m not concerned with long term reliability, either. From what I’ve read in Consumer Reports, J. D. Power and others, Hyundai’s reliability is better than most, and has been improving over the past several years. My hesitancy is solely for other subjective reasons. One, I’ve had mixed experiences with service work at my local Hyundai dealership (I had another Genesis previously). And two…to be honest, this time I was looking for something more fun - specifically, a 2015 Chevy SS. When I was car shopping at the end of the year, I was only willing to consider the Genesis 5.0 with Ultimate package, which was (1) very hard to find, and (2) the one local dealer that had them in stock wasn’t willing to offer anything resembling a reasonable discount. I was thisclose to getting the SS, when out of the blue an upstate dealer made an offer on a 5.0 base that was priced at a far greater discount than I’d seen anywhere…at that point, it was just too good a value to pass up.

But I’m still kinda feeling that unscratched itch for a performance sedan on the next go-round in a few years.

My Vote is Yes, I have about 25k miles with no issues. Normal recall and hated the Michelin replacement tires and Hyundai Corp replaced them with whatever I wanted. I can't wait for the Genesis SUV to come out so I can upgrade my wife's 2012 Sorento.

^ In all likelihood, Kia will also be developing a luxury crossover (whether it will be based on the Telluride concept - who knows?), also likely pinned on the Genesis platform.
