  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wow, Is that a Bentley?

I pulled into the parking garage for work yesterday and after getting out of my car a woman walked up to me and said “are you the one driving that Bentley?”. Lol I said “i wish” then she asked what kind of car it was. I told her it was a Genesis and she said “what is that?”. I then explained to her what it was and she commented about three times how beautiful the car was....love this car!

I had some interesting comparisons at work. I showed my car to one of my coworkers, and he said the grille reminded him of the front of Rolls Royces... I didn't disagree because I didn't want to be mean towards a compliment haha. Another one of my coworkers overheard someone else asking people "who owns the blue Maserati?"

That only shows how much the brand needs to advertise more and have more dealerships, Canada has it good over there, they can order the cars online, and they have the new models available there long before we do.

I wouldn't mind my G70 being mistaken for a Bentley, but the fact that the Genesis logo is so similar to Chrysler does grate on me a little. I don't think I'd take too kindly if someone thought my baby was a Chrysler.

I've been asked if my G80 was a Chrysler 300. There are people that have never heard of Genesis.

Yeah, it's kind of a good thing that Genesis isn't that well known yet. It makes it a bit more special and unique. I just wish they'd designed the logo a bit differently lol. Speaking of similar 'wing' logos, I didn't realize it until now but the Genesis logo also looks pretty similar to Aston Martin.

I've had the Bently question too. It's all because of the badge. When I told one guy at a light, "no, it's a Genesis" he said "seriously? No way!"

No problem there. I actually think Hyundai makes pretty decent cars, especially for the price. Chrysler on the other hand I'm not so sure about.
I've owned two Chrysler vehicles; a 300S and my current RAM truck. Zero issues for both and in fact were the two most reliable cars I've ever owned. My RAM has 89k miles and still looks and performs like new when I bought it. My Genesis on the other hand has had a failed seat motor, failed parking sensor, mottled trim issue, and now has symptoms of the brewing transmission failure and it has under 3000 miles not to mention the worst, most incompetent dealer experiences I've ever had.

Time for the 🍋

Not that this is exactly a cost effective or smart recommendation, but I wonder if sending it to one of the dealers that apparently DO treat their customers correctly would get everything sorted out. (Thinking specifically of the trans if that needs replacing)

Zero competent dealers within 200 miles of me. I've called every one. All the same b.s., no care attitudes and none use synthetic oil let alone know how to work on this car. I'm leaning towards trading in the car on a CPO 12k mile C43 AMG. Theres a nice one in my area for $38k.

please do, obviously youre regretting your purchase. The dealership situation you are in along with all the issues youre having makes it seem like a different car is your best option. Honestly a C43 AMG is never a bad choice, as long as its in warranty. Youll take a loss on trading in this soon, but I think everyone has to make a sanity vs money decision and occasionally sanity has to win out

I was thinking probably further than 200 miles (like I said, probably not a smart suggestion)

Add the bath you take on the trade-in to the price of the C43 and you still might be below the Mercedes' MSRP. I'd be enticed if I was in your position. The C43 would have been on the top of my Christmas list when I was car shopping if it hadn't been for the price

I would never want to own a Mercedes based on how horrible their reliability has been for YEARS.

One of my employees saw me in the parking lot and later asked if my car was a Chrysler. 😡
I told him to not ever call my car a Chrysler again. 😆

The first day I owned my car my neighbor asked me the same thing. I was caught off guard. I thought the same thing, never call it a Chrysler again. LOL

Had one. Won't have another. Not to mention the incompetent service department. Once you had a bad experience with a brand it is difficult to give it another shot. Not like a bottle of cheap wine that you lost $7 on.

Wow, I owned an SLK AMG 32 and it was bulletproof other than a couple minor electrical issues. All AMG engines are hand assembled. Ibwas treated like Royalty by every Merc dealer I visited, never had to fight for a loaner or for proper oil, or for common politeness.

The one I'm looking at is $38k with 12k miles on it. I paid $45k out the door for my G70 3.3T and the trade offer is $37k. I dont owe much on it.
