  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I visited my dealer today on a minor service matter. The service writers informed me that there was FREE map update available for (a campaign) for my car. Of course, I scheduled it immediately before the offer disappears. They said it takes several hours. I have a '12 Premium Package only model (with touchscreen). Don't know what other years and models may be affected.

I had almost paid for an update a few months ago, so I guess this was my lucky day. Sorry, I didn't press them on what other years and models are impacted. My bad. I guess I was in a daze about it. I guess "a few" of you will be calling your dealers on this. :)

Could you post more details about it? I just called my dealer and they do not have any information. Maybe it is only for the Premium package.

Sorry, but I posted all the info that I know. I was very clear about it.

The key info is a campaign ID or a service bulletin ID. One of those pieces of information might help others with slows or less helpful dealers find the truth.

I received a post card mailer last week for a complimentary map update. I scheduled service and brought in in this week do do along with some other service and detailing. When I picked it up, the navigation system was the same as before. The post card says, "Update your navigation system map at no charge to enjoy: New user interface, 1.3 million new points of interest, and Traffic and Weather information. I called Hyundai and they called me after a week and said that it only "updates" the information and doesn't UPGRADE!
This is false and misleading.

I got the notice for a free map upgrade for 2012 V6 Genesis :D and had it done when I took the car in this week. I had to leave it for 3+ hours. I have not really checked it out, but there are a number of obvious changes. The menu is different, the daytime background is brown and I think the street names are even harder to read.

I subsequently visited a doctor that the previous version had failed to locate exactly and once again the update failed to find the address. Don't have any other results to report.

I did not save the notice.

Plz 'splain the difference...in your mind.

The issue is that it claims the update will create a new user interface which the postcard showed that is very different than mine. It also claimed to add Traffic and Weather information. It also said it added 1.3 million new POI (OK, I'm not concerned about that one). It also claims to update 32,000 miles of new road but I was on a road that is over 3 years old and it doesn't show up. It claims a new Smart route calculation (don't see anything for this). It also claims that is added Voice Recognition.

Bottom line......it didn't add or update any of the above. That's false advertising in my mind OR the nav update doesn't work!

I just did a map update and it took the dealership almost a day.

Well, to my surprise, the service guy called it a "recall" other than a "free update" in the first place. I didn't have too much complain about the old navi or maps, so I'm not sure where the recall was coming from. But I do have the pre-paid maintenance plan (Yes, a rip of money) if that can explain why some people received the postcard and someone didn't.

The updated map does have a new new interface and my general feeling is quite freshing. Before they started the work, they made me sign a waiver acknowledging that saved addresses in the old system might be gone after the update. Luckily, for my case, I still have them in the new system.

Bluetooth music streaming is more smooth now. The fonts are smaller. Yes, I did observe new roads and POI are added.

I just had the P17 campaign FREE Nav update/upgrade done. It took the dealer a long time, but the new software is well worth it. The formerly bright white map background is darker colored now and much easier on the eyes. So is the night view. The entire touch interface has been improved and finding POI info is much easier than before. The telephone interface now has a "favorites" contacts screen. Great for those of us who hate using voice commands. I'm sure there are more features awaiting my discovery. This upgrade brings my '12 Genesis Nav much closer to the Nav in my '14 Santa Fe Sport. Color me happy.

Madman, everything you said above is off the mark. Either you didn't actually get this upgrade, or you are blind to its improvements. Have a closer look.

I bet ManMan has the Technology package. Everyone else who noticed a major UI difference appears to have the Premium package.

I took my 2012 Equus in for the update and the dealer said I already had the latest map/software. They did, however, offer to update it for free when the next update is available.

My maps were updated early 2013 to a version 5.0 dated 2012. The version # is
03.00.00 2012.04.14.01

I have the 2015 ultimate, was at the dealership few days ago, no updates for these cars.

Your '15 is brand new and you were expecting an update????

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Yeah, why not? Always trying to get the latest and best :) because the update went out in August or around that time, I bought my car after it. But the dealer looks like had the SD card with the update

Does it apply to 2010 CPO Genesis?

Just ask for the p17 update?
