  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know where the radio ID number is stored? I don't know if it's in the head unit or in the amplifier. I had the amp changed because I kept losing the XM signal when the car was shut off, I know this was an issue some of you had and the problem was resolved when they finally replaced the reman amp they had installed with a brand new amp.
The reason I'm asking is the radio ID number does not look familiar, I know I had checked it several times when I was calling XM because I thought the signal loss problem was tied to them but after reading info on this forum and finally getting the dealer to put a new amp in the car the ID number that displays on channel 0 appears to be different, maybe it's my imagination but I wasn't sure if the ID number might have been stored in the amp and therefor would have changed when the new amp was installed.

Re: Xm radio-radio id number

If I remember correctly, go to channel 0 (or 1) on the radio...it's displayed there.

^ :D I was going to reply the same, but then saw your 2nd post and re-read the original post.

OP;
I have no clue, but sounds pretty interesting. Let us know if you figure it out.
I think your best bet is to contact the dealer and ask one of the technicians there.

Hey, this could be why when XM sends me a renewal notice, they list a radio ID that is not my radio ID. I had my amp replaced for reasons other than XM, and when I look at the ID, it is not what XM sayhs on their renewal notice.

What I'm saying is if the amp was replaced, it "could" change the XM radio ID. Funny though, because I did not lose any coverage on anything in the DIS, including the radios.
