  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

XM & Serius Radio Billing.

Re: XM & Serius Nav/Traffic

Does the Nav/Traffic verbally tell you about road conditions or do you have to
monitor the screen?

There isn't nearly enough time for me to post all of the billing problems I've had over a period of time with XM. At one time I had three radios set up with them, but none now. You probably wouldn't even believe all the stuff that happened.

And for those of you who think it can't happen to you because you have done everything right and documented it, let me assure you that is not always enough. I've spend literally many hours fighting problems even though I had names and exact times and dates of conversations.

Just to name the two worst events, one is that I had a verbal agreement (documented) to not auto-renew me. I didn't trust them, so I even called after a year not once, but twice and both times was told I had a "zero" balance and my account was closed. Three months later I had a collection agency calling me to pay for the renewal. It took three calls to make them go away.

A few months ago, I got a bill for $459 for a three year subscription for a vehicle I had not owned for four years. It took me two calls to make it go away (an hour and a half on the phone). One lady repeatedly told me I apparently never cancelled it because "there are no notes in the system indicating you cancelled". She was undeterred when I kept asking her why if I had never cancelled have I not received any bills in the four years until now? And the bill clearly showed they were billing for new service - not for service for the past four years.

These are just two of many problems I had. They can rot in hell.

[*]The key is to cancel before the automatic renewal each year.
[*]If you pay by credit card, it's much easier for them to automatically renew you and much more hassle if they charge you the wrong amount. You can opt for invoice billing by paying $2 a year, and then you can mail them a check. If you do leave a credit card, be very clear that you do not want to leave the credit card number on file.

See my comments above. When you are fighting a collection agency you won't feel much better about the fact that you didn't use a credit card (for the record though, I did exactly as you suggest, and I agree that it is probably the best course of action).
