  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

XPEL Paint Protection (or 3M) - Worth it?

Finally had mine done last week, headlights included. Having now been a week I think it's money well spent. Here are my observations/opinion on the product.

1) It looks like your front end was waxed very well, or as if you have an extra layer of clearcoat. Specifically the chrome looks better with the coating.

2) Any dings/dents/blemishes, most notably in the chrome, will be enhanced close up. As mentioned my car had 15k when I had it applied so some of the chips in the plastic that weren't filed down or flat show up more than they did before.

3) Following #2, the film and most blemishes are invisible from just a few feet away, the front end looks new and if you didn't tell someone there was a product on the car I would be they would think it was just a great wax job.

4) So so so easy to clean. I cannot stress this enough. I put on about 600km driving around this weekend for fun and plastered the front of the car with bugs. What didn't literally fall off from spraying with a hose more or less "fell" off using a microfiber cloth and carsoap with water. If you hate cleaning bug splatter off of your front end (as I do) the money is worth it alone for this....

5) The "self healing" seems to work, I have not noted any damage to the film and any deformation from bugs was gone when the washing was complete.

Specifically noting the headlights in my opinion I would get them done, why leave them out as one of the most highly worn areas of the front of the car? The film is crystal clear, you don't see it on the headlights. The extra protection is great and supposedly will lessen the oxidization of the plastic and provide some UV protection. I didn't notice any change in light output or any change when using the headlights a long time. The ability to clean easily and leave the lights shinning again is so worth it.
