  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

You might want to wait on the V8....

"The Hyundai Genesis sedan has only been on sale for a month, but the automaker is already considering upgrading the current 4.6-liter V8 with a 5.0-liter version. Hyundai's North American product chief, John Krafcik, told MotorTrend that the Tau V8 could be stroked up to 5.5-liters, but the ideal displacement to keep fuel economy on par with power is an even five liters.

The plan is to increase the displacement of the V8, as well as adding direct-injection to Hyundai and Kia's range of fours, sixes and eights over the next few years. It's a move that several automakers have already adopted and Hyundai's decision to increase its V8's displacement will only happen if it can keep output the same or better while retaining the 4.6-liter's fuel economy."

Waiting for the 5.0 would be as nerve wrecking as waiting for the V8's to come out all together!

It's going to be a few years before the 5.0 makes it into the Genesis.. Maybe for the mid-life refresh.. That's too long to wait.

(I moved this out of the v8 section because I think we're going to leave that for technical stuff.)

Hyundai will get new direct-injection 5.5 L V8 for the US Genesis?

I forgot what US magazine mentioned it but they said that the Genesis can easily be bored to 5.5 L and with Direct Injection and have the same gas mileage as the current 4.6L V8. It's coming soon to America.

Maybe the current V8 owners should of waited?

I just read the same and I specifically recall that the 5.5L will be reserved for the Korean market on an extended executive version of the Genesis, and that a 5.0 DI model will be for the US as long as the gas mileage meets at least what is achieved now with the 4.6. They will not be introducing anything that will lower their CAFE average.

The 4.6 is plenty powerful for me. Hell, I was happy with the 3.8 on a test drive. I can't imagine gas mileage being the same if you add another 900 litres.
