  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Young "Domestic" Buyer Considering Genesis

I'm 28, not as young as you ;), but young enough. I was into the go fast scene for 10 years (still am at heart) so I upgraded from a highly modified 2005 N-SRT4.

I chose the 2013 Genesis as my new car, base model. I couldn't be happier. I have drove/driven 300s, and they are good cars too.

Honestly? I just wanted a Genesis. Couldn't really say why or how come, just kind of steered towards it. So in conclusion, if you go with a Genesis you will not be upset by any means.

The Genesis does not compete head to head w/ the ES (that's the Kia Cadenza).

Hyundai's sales goal (pre-Great Recession) for the Genesis sedan was 20k annually (the 30k sales goal for the coupe was totally misguided) and they hit more than that (nearly 23k) in 2012, with 2013 likely being close to it -which is darn good for a model that was into its 6th year of sale.

For instance, the previous Lexus GS in its 5th/6th year of sale only sold about 7k (and the GS is equipped w/ AWD) and in its last year sold only 3.7k.

The current GS in only its 2nd yr of sale couldn't break 20k last year.

Things are worse for the Infiniti M - last yr (its 4 yr in its current model cycle), it managed to sell a little over 5k.

Hyundai probably loaded up on supply of the 1G Genesis as production shifted to the 2G Genesis.

Pretty much what's on the dealer lots (and maybe what is left at port) is what's left of the Genesis until the 2G model starts hitting the lots.

well, the subject was for the woman to buy a genesis and its a great time to buy one right now. I got mine for a little more than what a used 2013 genny cost for and mine only had 33 miles on it. If hyundai was setting a goal of 20k then yeah, the surpassed their goal and that is great. I dont know their goals for sales but I see chrysler and their 300 and they smoke their sales in numbers. I think the ES is in the compeptition with genesis as well. the ES is a entry level luxury car. I dont think the genesis is a sport sedan. especially compared to others in that segement... hyundai is not up to that level yet.

I'm 52 and my Genesis is my first "non-domestic" car. If Pontiac was still around I would have probably got the G8 from them. I've been very happy with it.
