If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As we well know, we have virtually zero aftermarket support for the 5.0 engine. I understand some of you are not into the performance world as well. But for those of us that would like an intake (which will come with an air box), Airiad can design one for us. They do however need to have enough interest in order for them to consider doing the R&D and designing the kit. If you have a 5.0, please take a minute and email Airaid. I know its a long shot, but it doesnt hurt to try, right?

Email Ben at ben@airaid.com

Please specify the year, make, model and the engine and your interest in the intake kit.

Thats all. The more requests they get, the better the chances Airaid can get it done.

For more info on Airaid, go to www.airaid.com

Mods, could you consider making this thread a "sticky" for any new 5.0 owners that come aboard? Thanks.

5.0 and 4.6 share the same block and intake IIRC. Should be able to open this up to 5.0, 4.6, and equus owners....

I thought about the 4.6, however, the 5.0, at least the RSpec, doesnt have that maf sensor conected to the airbox. It would be a different design for Airaid. And the Equus has a different engine bay and hood dimension. They would have to design the intake, but more importantly, the design of the airbox would be different.

Any idea of a price range for this? A guestimate of $200-$400 would prob generate a lot more interest than one of say $2000-$2500. (thinking of costly R&D)

Ben told me that it would take a "couple hundred" requests to consider doing the R&D. Im sure that figure is high. I know its a long shot but Im sure if they get enough interest, they could produce it. I dont know how much the kits would be. We have to start with showing Airaid some serious interest first.

im pretty sure you could find an exhaust shop or custom car/metal-fab shop could easily be able to make you one. A lot quicker than waiting for "a few hundred" people to contact Air Raid and probably cheaper.

Sure, I've thought about doing a custom intake. However, you get what you paid for. Im tired of ghetto fabin' parts. I would rather have a proven designed intake that looks good, fits well and can be functional. Im just trying to contribute here to get some parts done for this platform.

Re v8 prob 5-10 people would buy it
Re v6 prob 10-50 people would buy it.

Heat soak is a concern and im not too fond of oiled filters. Cold air scoop could work, but do you really want added risk of sucking water up

I just cant see the demand.

If somebody could remap the ecu id pay a grand for it.

I'll be in line to buy one when an intake actually increases power in a computer controlled car.:D

The only way that will happen is if tuner vendors see an aftermarket growth for this car first.

Look, I can see where this is going. No wonder there is nothing for this car other than the usual costmetic "mods" which do nothing. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and this wheel is seized. Nevermind, I tried. Ill just go my own route.

Mods, please delete this thread.

Scooby,
Don't get mad.

Part of the problem is that this is a luxury car and so most people are not all that interested in performance parts that will increase the noise. A CAI will increase the noise.

And as others have stated, until someone breaks the code and starts providing tuning abilities, a CAI and open exhaust are not used to their full potential.

One other thing of note, when I had a Pontiac G8 with the V6, it took some time before a company took the time to break the code so it could be tuned. Once the code was broken and they could tune it, there was only about 3 HP and 4 TQ gained. Not worth the money they were asking for for minimal gains.

I say this because the V6 in the G8 is similar as the TAU in the Genney, it's a dual overhead cam set up with variable valve timing. And with the DI, the engine is probably even closer to maxed out on power. But until a company spends the R&D money to break the code and tune it, we will not know. R&D cost a lot. ;)

One other thing to notice, out 5.0 is putting as much or more HP that other companies who have 6.0's or larger. Think about it. Also if you have read thru the track time thread on here, the guy who ran his at the track had better times with the flapper valve in the air box in than he did with it out.

I think that part of the problem is the V8 is not available in the KDM, so it's not possible to leverage KDM demand for modifications.

LOL nice pic. No, Im not mad at all. All I can do is all I can do, but all I can do is enough.

I just have to come to the realization that this car will stay the way it is. I could have gone the SRT8 route, but for I love the way this car looks and the value of it.

I had a 300C SRT-8 and IMHO the Genesis is a better over all car. Just a couple of problems with my SRT-8 were the rotors grooving, the brake dust from the Brembo set up was horrible, the shifter getting locked in park because of a 7 dollar part failing, replaced rack/pinion, and there was a hesitation from 1-2 but at least a tune could fix that although the grooving/dust/hesitation were common issues with most SRT-8s. I will take the luxury and reliability of the Genesis any day even in stock form.

Same here. I knew what this was before i bought it. Never liked the 300c massive blind spots. If any american car it would have been a slightly used ctsv.

Like a crackhead having fits is our desire to mod.... unless were going to rice it up weve bought the wrong car. If theres any truth to the 1200 rspec made for 2012... its not going to happen. Sorry bro

I came close to making a deal on a nice low mile (35,000) 09 CTS-V. I would have been more expensive than the RSpec by 6-7k and i vowed never trust a used performance machine of any kind. I just hope that MAYBE Hyundai ups the power by 40 or 60 more hp on the upcoming generation to compete with the srt's ISF, the germans and make it more desireable for performance geeks like me. *crosses fingers*

Caddy redesigned the ctsv in 2011 or 2012.. i wouldnt of gotten the prior gen too cheap and crappy.so you made the best choice with the hyundai. Geezus the new cts gets like 8/16 mpg.... no thanks. I could have waited for a 2014. Hyundai could put another hundred horses.it would still be an over rated engine.. hyundai needs to reduce the nannys, then we can use the power. Imagine they replace the 3.8 wit the 3.3 turbo... and the v8 with the 3.8 turbo. Faster and better gas mileage. I cant wait to see what hyundai does to up the ante.... though whatever they do one thing is certain... no mods lol

Actually, the second gen ctsv came in 09.

I agree the first gen ctsv's were crap.
