  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any help in choosing a power chip for increase of HP as well as MPG on 2012 v-6 333hp Genesis sedan. Prefer do it yourself plug and go type to avoid warranty issue when taking for service.

Those things are all

1. Those are scams.

2. They will pretty much void (rather your claims will be denied) your powertrain warranty.

Is there anyone that does work with the ECM-engine control module on Hyundai's? My diesel VW Passat had a ECM "retune" and that thing hauls a$$. The retune made the turbo lag go away and made for alot of fun with kids and their rice rockets at stoplites.

Tunes on a na engine 2-5 % boost. Possibly quicker throttle, better shifting points, dsc disable, etc

The increase in hp wont make as much a difference as the others.

Not enough sales, desire from owners and perf gains to justify a tuning company to invest time.

Shame, i hope im wrong

Yep- a shame. It added 30 hp to an already torquey VW diesel motor for me- that was a 20%ish gain.

That's a turbo diesel, probably the type of car to get the largest gains, just look at the full size trucks running 12s.

I gained 70 wheel hp and ~60 ft lbs of tq from an exhaust and tune on one of my other cars. Turbo cars tend to leave a lot of room on the table on a factory tune versus an aftermarket one. N/A cars not so much, as previously said, because manufacturers tend to basically "max" out what can be done with the stock parts.

In my opinion, remapping ecu chips probably work best, maybe only, on turbocharged engines. Especially in the case of a light pressure turbo, the boost pressure can be increased by electronically "tightening" the waste gate and enriching the mix, mostly to prevent overheating. I did this mechanically on my 1984 300SD by adjusting the waste gate spring and fooling the ALDA into riching up the fuel mix. My mechanic said "this thing pulls like a 6.9". Well, maybe not quite, but this is an example of an engine that could withstand double the stock pressure.
Anyway, I put it back to "normal", have since rebuilt the transmission, and is for sale for $1500. If I don't sell it, I will be experimenting with a propane insufflation system until the engine blows up, thence to the recycler.

I jumped from 300hp to 400hp... but that was wit a turbo. Not much room on na engines

Question...

A: Why is this still a question.
B: Why is this thread even still open.

What is your reasoning for seeking more horsepower? Generally speaking horsepower and fuel economy are mutually exclusive.

That is you can adversely change one without effecting the other. If your right foot demands more throttle, the ECU will deliver more fuel. It's quite simple. If you desire more off the line grunt, then it's torque you're seeking - not horsepower. Plenty of vehicles provide ample acceleration of the line with gobs of torque available. Perhaps a turbo diesel may have been a better choice?.?

A = Because racecar, Ask any racer. Any real racer. It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning.

B= no reason to close it, honest question just no answers regarding increased performance are avail atm.

In everyday driving, my Regal GS(modded) gets better mileage than when it was stock....things you do for more power, on a proper tune, can result in better mileage. My Regal is factory supercharged and I added higher lift roller rockers(lower friction), CAI, Headers, full exhaust, tune, intercooler, smaller blower pulley...stock, the car was rated at I think 16/27, cruising at 75 I get about 32mpg. Car breathes better, more efficient. Its only when in boost that the mileage suffer.

Propane injection on a diesel....sounds like fun....saw a full size dually on propane injection at 2700ft altitude run low, low 12s. Of course, after the run they needed to wait for the smoke to clear before the next run.

Every vehicle I've gotten a tune or chip for has increased power and fuel econ. Granted, much more effective on my turbo diesel than the NA engines.

You guys are missing the point... nobody has cracked the ECU for this vehicle.

There is no aftermarket support. Don't count on any big tuning support, or any large aftermarket company to come through with a tuning solution for the sedan.

Yes the OE tune runs pig rich. Yes, it can be improved. Yes, I'd love to spend more time fine tuning and working with my mega squirt...

Bottom line - it takes capital ($$$), time, and company which is willing to take risks to launch a product into a limited production market. Thus, this is why you see all the love for the coupe, and non for the sedan. Even more so when you start comparing the love for the larger TAU endowed sedans vs their Lambda brethren. The KDM parts which do make it to the NA shores share more love with the Lambda motors... And the NA tuners are more willing to work on the Lambda motors due to the higher guaranteed profit margins.

Now yes the OP has the 3.8L Lambda V6 - yes the Gen Coupe guys seem to have figured out a re-flash for the MMC coupe... I suggest a little research on the more visited coupe forums and you might find what your looking for.

Not to cause any controversy but...

There are many performance mods that are not mutually exclusive from economy. These would include: free flow exhaust, intakes, porting and polishing, blueprinting, 3 way valve seat grind, lighter flywheel, defeating emissions controls, reducing unsprung weight. Yes I know these are old school what I think we used to call "street stock" mods back in the day (the day when I wanted to do all of this but had no money). It all depends upon how you use it; more efficiency = faster or cheaper.
