If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know there have been many posts on this issue so I wanted to share my experience. I had my oil changed last week and mentioned how bad the leather looks on the seat. Without hesitation he said bring it back and leave it for the day and we will fix it. No questions asked. So in case you have the same issue your dealer should fix the problem.

Would you happen to know how the dealer went about fixing it?

My 2011 4.6 seat looks pretty sad with only 14,000 on the clock.:(

I don't know if it's just some of us, but when i purchased my Genny the dealer told me that my paint and leather seats were covered by warranty, so if i ever have any problems with those 2 i can always bring it back and they will fix them for free.

Please let us know what they did and if they say it will be a temporary fix that will need to be periodically done or if it's more permanent etc?

Thanks!

He said that their upholstery guy would stretch it so we will see how it turns out. Just glad he didn't just blow me off.

I don't have pictures of the drivers seat on mine but it was coming loose, especially around the headrest posts. The shocking part is what made the leather get loose to begin with. The foam cushion inside of the seat was actually deteriorating / breaking apart from itself on each of the side bolsters from the center of the seat back. It's one cushion forming that entire area just at different thicknesses. The bottom seat cushion is also part of the back, just one really big piece of foam that's poorly designed.

They replaced it all under warranty and I've had my vehicle for almost 3 years, definitely a satisfied Genesis owner. Total cost of repair under warranty was $1600.

Before and after pics would of been great for your records and for show n tell.

I have the same problem and had them note it at my last service. They have a replacement seat cushion cover on order and will install it under warranty.

Ditto!

Took my Genny in for the DOT4 brake fluid change and asked about the sagging seat bottom. Service writer told me no problemo. They're replacing the entire seat bottom at the tune of 2200.00. Covered under warranty. I find that price a little excessive for a seat bottom. Might as well replace the entire drivers seat.

If you go to the Hyundai website, your seats and related materials are covered for 5 years, 60,000 miles. Your owners manual is also a handy reference.

I have a 2010 4.6 with 40,000. The drivers seat exhibits the loose seat leather and collapsing cushion after 30 min of driving. I took it in to the dealer for the brake fluid campaign and made them aware and handed them copies of this thread. 6 hrs later I was told my seat was no different than any other Genesis and no warranty claim was justified.

It seems they admitted there's a problem. What next??

When my seat becomes more wrinkly than my butt I will worry about this problem.

Its less about wrinkles and more about a collapsing seat cushion after 30 min.
Its clear the leather is stretching on the seat because of inadequate foam support.

Same issue on the Equus!

After hearing about this, I started looking at used car ads. The leather stretch is evident on cars with as little as 5,000 miles. Every driver's side seat picture I saw was stretched.

My 98 Lexus LS still looked new at 65,000 miles.

Could someone post a photo of this happening. I want to see what I should be on the lookout for.

I'm somewhat hesitant to post as I don't have pictures.

I took mine in for an oil change and brake fluid change. The leather on the driver's seat wasn't terribly loose, but it looked terrible compared to the passenger seat. So I asked about it.

The dealer gave me a loaner and said they'd have the "leather guy" look at it when he came. I picked it up today after 9 days at the dealer.

They told me the leather guy initially tightened it, but wasn't satisfied. So he removed the seat from the car, took it to his shop and added more cushion under the leather.

It looks great now. Time will tell if it's a permanent fix. I can't tell that the seat had been removed.
