  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Red caution light

Sorry my phone is acting weird. Meant to post that in another area

There are a couple of warning lights. One comes when the stability system kicks on (I think the letters ESC are lite up). The second light I have seen comes on when the adaptive cruise control is about to apply the brakes (and it does apply the brakes!!). I had that happen once in traffic while on CC and a driver cut in close in front of me. I don't remember what the symbol was.

One nice feature I've found about the adaptive cruise control is the ability to override the way too reactive braking tendancy simply by pressing the gas pedal slightly. If you know a situation is about to arise that the car would needlessly think requires brakes (and it too often does IMO), it's easily overruled with the gas pedal.

This happened to me once in the rain when I was pulling off, it was the orange ESC light that came on but then disappeared after a few seconds.

The ESC light comes on everytime I drive the Genesis:D

Exact same thing happened to me. It's like a built in collision avoidance feature.

I'm not sure if this is related, but driving one day, a car in front of me slowed to turn into a parking lot. I estimated I had plenty of space so I did not brake behind him. As I crept up on the car a warning logo (red with a triangle, exclamation mark, and a car) popped up on my multi-function display between my gauges for maybe 2 seconds. It startled me until I was able to recreate the circumstances and saw it again. Is this possibly what you saw?

Happened to me yesterday. I have driven a total of 90K miles on two G's and never saw that before yesterday. It is exactly as you stated - red triangle with word Caution, I think. Shows up in the center multi-function. I was driving about 45mph and a car was slowed in front of me to turn right. I didn't really get that close to him when I noticed the red triangle pop up. Weird. Can only assume it thought I was approaching too fast to the car in front of me.

On a similar thing in the multi-function area: When you have your cruise on you will see "your car" in the picture and then when you get close, you'll see the car you are approaching. If you let the auto cruise do its job (don't touch the brake pedal) the Genny will slow when the car in front slows. But if the car in front brakes, the Genny will brake (it's scary to trust it, but it works). When your Genny goes to braking, the brake lights on the little pic of the car in the multi-function area go on. Kind of silly, but cool that some programmer thought to do this.

One other thing on the cruise control. If you have it set on say, 70, and you come into an exit ramp that has a pretty good curve, the Genny will automatically slow. Must have something to do with g-force the Genny senses.

Just got a red warning light in the upper right corner of the LCD display. I'm pretty sure it was a car, speedometer and an exclamation mark. Stop the car, turned it off and it went away. Don't have access to the manual yet. Any ideas?

SCC (Smart Cruise Control) fail. pg 4-65.

That weird. I didn't have SCC on at the time.

Unintentionally, I've discovered that the warning will appear even when SCC is turned off. Had a car pull in front of me and the warning appeared along with an audible warning. The system appears to always be looking for objects in front of the car which are not moving.

These "G"'s are amazing! awake whilst asleep.......cooool

I'm waay confused (as usual). What does the Genny have that would alert a driver of a car pulling in front of it?

This happened to me once when a car mistakenly pulled in front of me, way too close. On a city street doing around 30 mph.

The display between the tach and speedo turned to a flashing red with a a vocal alert signal along with applying the brakes to almost stop the vehicle. This reacted much quicker than I ever could have. Apparently some type of collision avoidance system is provided. 2012 5.0 sedan.

My insurance company allowed me a discount because they claim this vehicle does have a collision avoidance system.

Apparently so. I would note that the LDWS and speed control were turned off.

Two other things. I believe there is a g force sensor that does the following two things:

Tighten the seat belts for both driver and passenger during a harder than normal acceleration as well as slow the vehicle down going through a curve unless you are intentionally pushing the vehicle through the corner.

Just got my car out of service today. Had to get the SCC unit looked at due to a red light on the dash warning me of SCC fail. Part is on order and should be here next week. Oh BTW that unit cost $7000.00 to replace. OMG ! Thankfully its all under warranty, but holy sh!t, $7 grand ?!?!?!?

Another reason why I have GEICO Mechanical Breakdown Insurance. Covers it for $250 up to 100k miles....LOL
