  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi.

I have an 09 Genesis sedan with tech package. My droid 3 worked fine on bluetooth. The Galaxy S4 which just came out is giving me problems. It pairs..initiates calls just fine. But it keeps saying call ended...and then reconnects. I called verizon and a samsung...but no solutions. This phone may be going back. Curious if anyone else has had issues with the Galaxy S4. The compatibility chart lists the s3...I thought if the s3 is compatible with the genesis...the S4 would work.

Thanks!

Bob

IIRC, the S3 came with Android 4.0 ICS, whereas the S4 came with 4.2 JB. Possibly some issues there with the change in BT profile?

Please keep us posted. I'm considering an S4. My iphone 5 connects well, but I'm getting too much thumb pain from the iphone's hard home button. Repetitive stress injuries are no fun. I always thought another appendage would be the first to go.

Will do.

I am having issues with indecision. Perhaps an update down the road will fix this. I really enjoy using the Bluetooth in the car.

My choices now are keep it and pray they fix the glitch, or....get the droid razor max hd. I waited to get the S4.... I guess I could get the iPhone 5, although I am uninspired by it. I was hoping to get something with enough newness to get me through the 2 year contract. They told me that Verizon is going to stop the early upgrades...so will have to wait a full 2 years this time.

I'm using 4.2.2 on a galaxy nexus with no issues (2013 r spec). You might try a Bluetooth headset and see if the issue persists. It could be a faulty phone since it worked before with a droid 3. The other thing to keep in mind is that the s4 has Bluetooth 4 with low energy profile. You might call Samsung and see if they have any advice.

This. Remember this is the same company, Hyundai, that didn't spend the $20 to put in AD2P media streaming in the '09. I wouldn't count on a super robust receiver on the voice side that pairs well with a newer BT spec.

I have the 2012 tech Genesis and my Galaxy S4 pairs and works fine.

Thanks Vince2. I'm upgrading my S3 to an S4 in the next month or two.

Im having the same exact problem I also own a 2009 Genesis . Its driving me insane. I think the phone and software were designed With the new bluetooth technology in the newer hyundai genesis which would explain why the gentleman with the R spec isnt experiencing the same issue we are. I called Samsung and told them to please try and put this in their next update. Lets see what happens!

I'm having the exact same issue with my Samsung Galaxy S4. It's very annoying. I don't think there is anything wrong with the phone. I think it's a compatibility issue.

For those of you having issues, can you please post your phone carrier and the year of your car?

I don't have a GS4 yet. Currently I have a 2 yr old HTC Sensation on Tmobile which pairs fine but is coming of age for replacement. Knowing the details will help with my next phone decision, as well as help troubleshoot for solutions. I'm an XDA regular as well.

2012 Genny 5.0 which has tech and premium. Phones: iPhone 5. Distorted/garbled calls especially for those on the far end on. Once this begins (not all the time) have to shut off BT and turn back on. At times, have to delete the phone profile from system. On handset while this is going on, the calls are perfect.

Lol, exact same boat Gunkk. Are you leaning GS4 or H1?

I have a 2010 and a friend has the exact the same car, I have tried 2 different S4"s in both cars and both have the issue you described. I have spoken with Samsung and they claim it is a Hyundai issue (and I agree).

My S4 has worked without a problem. The phoned paired and the phone book downloaded without issue. I have had no complaints about the voice quality and incoming voices are fine. I had my GPS updated (long, ugly tale, see the "GPS update" thread). Part of the update included firmware updates...that could explain why I have not had issues with my S4.

2010 Genesis and I have the exact same issue as the OP. Carrier is Verizon and my prior Iphone 4 worked without issue. The Galaxy s4 does have connectivity problems by saying call ended then a second later it resumes that same call. Later it shows the same behavior every 30 seconds. Annoying? Yes, but I will not get rid of the Galaxy for this issue.

On a side note, my wife has a Lexus RX and Iphone 5. Whenever she tries to use Siri in the car, it causes causes the bluetooth to stop working until the car is restarted. It is a known issue on their forums.

I do believe the problem is with Hyundai as the whole system get a little finicky at times.

Samsung Array-drops blue tooth connectivity, then reconnects and drops calls.

I am currently eyeing the HTC One to replace my iPhone 5. Any HTC One comments out there?

I love the iPhone, but feel that I need a slightly larger screen, as well as to eliminate the hard home button key (arthritis). Rumor has it that the HTC One is coming soon to Verizon, so I will be patient. I have already heard the great stereo sound on the HTC. Very alluring.
