I am currently eyeing the HTC One to replace my iPhone 5. Any HTC One comments out there?
I love the iPhone, but feel that I need a slightly larger screen, as well as to eliminate the hard home button key (arthritis). Rumor has it that the HTC One is coming soon to Verizon, so I will be patient. I have already heard the great stereo sound on the HTC. Very alluring.
I picked up my H1 on TMo last Friday and am loving it. Never owned an iPhone so I can't say anything about the switch, but I had the original G1 then an HTC Sensation as my last phone. I root my phones and flash/swap custom ROMS so I know my way around the Android OS. Sense 5 is alright, but frustrating for someone that wants full control like I'm used to. Hardware wise, this thing is a beast and insanely fast - no lagging or transition stutters. The speakers are exceptional for both calls and music, the only downside to them is the that the lowest ringer volume is actually still pretty loud (I have a workaround for that though).
Back on topic, my HTC Sensation would do the same thing someone else said here. Connect fine, but randomly drop connection with my '10 4.6 Tech. No issues with the H1 like this. It connects and stays connected. Handles the swap from music (via my Monoprice BT receiver) to calls via DIS and back to music without issue.
I put in an NFC sticker last night in my G and programmed it change ringer and media volume as well as toggle BT on/off. Works like a charm, but interestingly enough it would not work when I placed it on the metal trim around the center stack. I think the metal of the trim threw it off. Works fine on the leather to the left of the stack though. So simple to program with NFC Task Launcher and feels so futuristic just waving your phone over the sticker and having it change things automatically.
