  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dead pedal lacking

Sorry for the delay. I hope to have some good news about an improved dead pedal by the end of next week. Hopefully, I will also have a link where you can learn more about purchasing this custom item.

Material delays from suppliers are causing further delay of this project. I have some vacation planned soon, as well. Patience requested. THNX!

No prob - enjoy the vacation! Just don't let the Dead Pedal Die...lol

Just a quick update. I'm hoping to have a photo of the next version of the foot rest/dead pedal by the end of this month.

It's a set, but what about these:

Probably need to add a spacer to the dead pedal and it does require screws.

The specific problem that I am trying to remedy is that the current dead pedal is too far forward for many of us to enjoy the comfort of placing our foot on top of it. The pedal set you noted will not easily remedy that. The one I am working on will.

I apologize for the delay in completing this project. I have worked with five different local shops on this and have invested about $200. The design work is completed and I have purchase the materials. Now I am just waiting for my preferred shop to find the time to knock out a few of these foot rests. As you can imagine, the profit to the shop on these items is relatively small and they have much higher priority jobs. Please bear with me a bit longer.

Reading this thread has been HILARIOUS!!! I used to have a Sonata, then bought a Coupe, then upgraded the Sonata to a Sedan. In all three I have had no issues with the dead pedal other than I didn't like the fact it was rubber. I'm only 5'8" tall; I don't know if that qualifies me for the "little people" (midget is so politicially incorrect, ROTFL!!!) status but as stated, the dead pedal positioning has been fine with me. Here's a few pics of what I did, and I want to do the same to my sedan.

SONATA OEM PEDAL SET-UP

SONATA ALUMINUM PEDAL SET-UP These were actually the pedals for a Tiburon.

2010 GENESIS COUPE OEM PEDAL SET-UP

2010 GENESIS COUPE ALUMINUM DEAD PEDAL For the 2013 Genesis Coupe Track model, the aluminum dead pedal is standard equipment, so just bought one.

I've talked to a number of dealers and they all say there are no aluminum pedals for the Genesis Sedan. But from what I see, the brake pedal is the same as the Sonata, but the gas pedal is the same as the Coupe, but I've already asked about that; the two are not interchangeable. I could probably put the Coupe or the Tiburon aluminum dead pedal in, but then what to do about the emergency brake rubber pad (both the Sonata and Coupe have hand emergency brakes)...so, just like the mini series "Roots", the saga continues, lol.

OMGWTF? Seriously... JC Whitney has a full line of add-ons you all might like. I believe curb-feelers and Ah-OooGa horns are still all the rage therin.

There are aluminum pedals for these cars, including the dead pedal, although not designed to make it thicker. See my previous post/link.

The purpose of this thread is quite clear to all who take the time read it. Some folks, including myself, find the placement of the stock dead pedal uncomfortable. If you find that yours is comfy, enjoy it. This thread is not for you. However if, like me, you would like your dead pedal to be closer so you can actually rest your foot on it comfortably, stay tuned.

I think everyone has taken the time to read the thread. Most (not all) people appreciate any related information as well.

Why not cut a piece of wood to the size & angled as you want -> spray it black -> then affix with superglue to the existing footrest...
It's just that easy :grouphug:

Finally, some intelligent creativity. Show us a pic.

I have already solved this problem in my own car. You can see the pics of my efforts in two of the postings above. Thankfully, they are a lot prettier than a block of wood painted black.

At least you think so. Im in the "no problem" camp

I agree it's not a huge issue, but my tiny legs would appreciate an easier to reach dead pedal. Put me on the list if you make one.
