If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Have you ever wondered about the true resale value of your brand new 4.6 with tech Pkg.?

Well, if you have, I hope you're sitting down because here is a shocker: Depreciation after little more than 24 hours of ownership is a whopping $9000.00, give or take a few cents, and this is no guesstimate, it is based upon personal experience.

There are too many variables going on here to draw any real conclusions. Lay out the details of your situation and maybe we can help you out.

I am not sure which variable you are alluding to, however, the situation is quite simple. Purchased car for cash one day along with a trade, called the next and expressed my dissatisfaction with the vehicle and desire to undo the sale, the hard, bouncy ride being the most personally problematic aspect and a feature that was not disclosed at the time of the test drive of a 6 cylinder version which did not elicit the same ride characteristics (an 8 was not available for test drive). The amount specified in the original post represents the cost incurred to reverse the trade/sale.

pretty obvious, if it costs 42,000 brand new and invoice is round 38 and sum change minus holdback of 1200 or so makes that car 36,5 roughly and u minus a normal used car markup which is 3-4000 dollars which would bring it down to 32k, there you go right there give or take a few dollars thats with ANY car my friend cuz whether your car has 5 miles on it or not once you drive off its titled and considered USED. and noone is going to buy a USED car for about what a new one costs that will get the full warranty as you only get the bumper to bumper from hyundai transferred to next owners. every car takes a big hit its first yr. so stop trying to act like its the car specifically, this goes with any car bmw, mercedes, lexus, whatever. relax. And if its a six cylinder start off with 40 if it has tech or 36 if not and work your way down.

Wow!
Thank you for the math lesson but there is no need for such a venomous response to a simple statement of fact.

Sounds like a tough experience, but cars are not investments. We all know they lose a lot of money once you drive it off the lot. That said, I wish the dealer could have worked something out with you. If you only had it for 24 hours I am sure they could have handled this much better.

did you wake up on wrong side of ur rocker this morning sir, i sell cars and was giving you a reason on why you got what you got. you get on here and try to act like you bashing the car. for one thing especially if im paying straight CASH for a car im going to take long test drive before i drop that much money on anything, sounds like you missed that step in your buying process, dont get mad at the car be mad at yourself, your unfactual statements are minute compared to other owners.

The short answer is a resounding yes.
What car did you get?

I own a 330i and it has a bumpy ride at times over rough pavement, but it is due to the run flat tires (in my opinion). Did they check the tires? Could that have been the issue?

I agree, and since the purchase was made on a Sunday it is unlikely that it could have been titled by the next morning. It was an expensive lesson but a valuable life experience nonetheless and one that I will not soon forget.

well, how you know 4.6 resale, you say here you bought 3.8 because no 4.6 was available and if you did buy a 4.6 later on after initial test drive why would you not test drive a totally different animal(v6-v8).

Well I am sorry to hear about your bad luck. I still think most cars would depreciate similarly so I cant bash Hyundai for that.

I would definitely not work with that dealer again though. I believe something better should have been worked out.

The tires are not the issue, although, I must admit that the Dunlop tires are extremely noisy and probably should not be supplied with that vehicle. A review of this forum, however, will reveal numerous, similar ride complaints in regards to the 4.6. Unfortunately, I did not see them until the purchase had already been made.

I believe that you should re-read the post! The 4.6 was purchased on the basis of a test drive of the 3.8 because a 4.6 was not available.

but you say you didnt drive 4.6 cuz none was avail.

why would you do that, you cnt base a 4.6's drive over a 3.8's. When someone pays cash dmv work and all thats put into system immediatley. its a done deal.

What "unfactual" statements are you alluding to, Sir? ( By the way "unfactual" is not a recognized word in the English language.)

Furthermore, I had already stated that a 4.6 was not available for test drive prior to purchase and was not to be available for the foreseeable future. And lastly, I am not "mad at the car," as you suggested but rather the dealer, whom I have a problem with vis-a-vis their lack of disclosure in regards to the ride difference regardless of whether it was based upon intentional omission or lack of knowledge.
