First I would like to give David from Carlighttrends.com a big thank you for helping me with my UNAVI purchase as well as answering all my questions. David and I talked for a good hour and half, he was very detailed in explaining to me how the UNAVI system integrates into my 2010 Genesis Sedan and just a overall good guy. I diffidently will be purchasing from carlighttrends.com in the near future.

All right boys and girls lets get into the nitty gritty, what is UNAVI its a 8" High definition touchscreen that interfaces into your non-navigation equipped Sedan this is done by a data ribbon that goes through the face of the radio. Now I understand why this product works so well, and I have to be honest I was very skeptical at first when talking to David, but as he explained to me this is how and why UNAVI products work as promised and I can tell you that they do work perfectly and work 100%. All of my original features work, I didn't lose anything at all.

The installation is straight forward as everything is clearly labeled and the instructions are very thorough, more so than what I was expecting and probably one of the best installation manuals that I have ever seen for an aftermarket product. I've done all my own work and I have installed a lot of aftermarket products over the years and the installation manual for the UNAVI navigation system is clearly the best that I have ever seen. All the cables are clearly marked and all are labeled, all I needed was just a couple of hand tools a set of non marring dash pry tools and a couple of hours later and a just about a pinte later VOLA... UNAVI INSTALLED!!

Now how good does is it look and does it work as promised, SMASHING and OH YES this kit is a beautiful and rather large as all 8" in your dash look as it should have been there from the assembly line. The fit and finish is perfect and look completely factory. Here you can see the main Radio Screen where you can control Volume, Tracks, CD/AUX, and the HVAC Controls all on the screen. Sorry the pictures do not do this screen justice.

Here is the directory screen where you can see all the system functions such as Navigation, Clock, Music, Image player, Video Player, Radio, a digital version of the owners manual, and System Settings.

Here you can see the Video Player Interface after a quick conversion of a couple of digital files into a AVI and I'm watching a High Definition Movie in my car!! And yes it does go FULL SCREEN Just brilliant!

Now here is the Navigation Setup Screen where you have the Map, Destination, and Map Settings. The following image is that of the Navigation interface, which is very easy to see in full sunlight. The maps are very easy to use and you have the option of a 3D view as well as a top birds eye view as if you are looking down on a map. POI search as straight forward and has all my local watering holes as well as all the newest venues. I would say that is is on par and just as easy to use as my previous handheld TOMTOM.

Overall I'm extremely happy with my UNAVI and again a BIG THANK YOU to David from carlighttrends.com for taking the time to answer all my questions and concerns. If had to rate the UNAVI I would give it a FULL 4 Stars, I just can not be happier and the little boss (wife) is just as happy as it is all that I said that I would be and then some more. For any others out there that have looked into this for their Genny I would wholeheartedly say this this kit is just brilliant very well put together, plus I'm looking down the road and the extra resale value that it adds to my Genesis.

Well there you have it my UNAVI Navigation System in my 2010 Genesis Sedan, cheers.

Wow, that is really nice! Did you do the install?

Yes I did the install, its straight forward as everything is properly labeled ans easy to follow. I would say that the Backup Camera is about the only difficult part of the install and only because you have the route the cable up front, other than that its easy to do.

I will say this about Hyundai and the way the Genesis Sedan is extremely well put together and over engineered. The entire dash is strewed together and not just like Japanese cars that parts are held in place by a pop clip like Honda, Toyota or Even Lexus's that I have had in the past, the Genesis Sedan is more along the lines of a MB or even more like a BMW.

That's awesome, I'm fairly inclined on installing stuff so it shouldn't be a problem.

So how do you like it overall? Is it responsive? I like it where I can poke around in random places and do different things and the screen responds instantly does it happen with this? I think either way its in my future to upgrade to this.

Oh do you have a pic of how the backup cam is mounted?

It really was easy to do, the installation manual is the best that I have ever seen. Now in regards to the responsiveness of the screen it is instant the micro second that you touch the screen it responds there is no lag at all. There is so much here that I have just started to learn all of its features, honestly I love this kit it is hands down the best aftermarket Radio Navigation product that I have ever purchased I just looks like it came with the car everything works right out of the gate. I didn't need to configure or do anything except turn it on!

I'll upload a pic of the rear view camera later today. I'm really surprised that no one else here on the forum has purchased this, the the Genesis owner that does not have Navigation this would be the perfect addition to your car, its beautiful, it works perfectly, and not expensive compared to the DIS System ( I know before purchasing my Genesis I was in a DIS equipped car and honestly was not impressed at all) just the fact that you can make your inputs via touching the screen vs a knob controller wins me every time. Honestly UNAVI has made the perfect Radio Navigation System for the Hyundai Genesis! Plus I'm also looking down the road and the added resale value that my Genesis now has thanks to adding this navigation system.

Awesome, I think unavi just got another buyer haha, right after I finish the other money pit project.

Now that you had it couple days, hows the navi? Is it pretty good and modern looking graphics wise? Does it have the lane whatever mode it's called.

I'm really love the nav, I would say that it is on par with TOMTOM as far as its functionality, looks and ease of use. Yes it does have lane guidance when coming to an intersection.

Pull the trigger man, trust me you will not be disappointed. Get in touch with David over at carlighttrends.com his a great guy to deal with and he knows this system like the back of his hand and I think that he is giving the members here a discount and free options like a backup camera and shipping, that is what he gave me.

Honestly like I said before this has been the best investment that I have made for my Genesis hands down, its beautiful and it works 100% like if it was an OEM product!

Robo

I'm glad that you are enjoying your UNAVI Navigation System, and as promised everything is working as if it was an OEM item. Any other members that would be interested in a UNAVI System we are giving all Genesisowners.com Members special pricing and also we are including a FREE Back Up Camera (Savings of $199) as well as FREE Shipping (Savings of $30) within the lower 48 States.

Hey robo, I am thinking about putting a unavi in my prem plus 2009 genesis. How was your Bluetooth system set up before the install? My genesis has an external Bluetooth unit and a mute button on the steering wheel. So my Bluetooth is currently not integrated through the speakers. Is your Bluetooth like this? And after the install was your Bluetooth integrated through the speakers? Did your genesis have a backup camera installed already? I'm curious as to hôw unavis rear back up camera works and if there is a way to integrate the Bluetooth

Is the screen visible during bright daylight (unlike the Lexicon system). That dang Lexicon screen is terrible and useless during bright daylight.

Guys, for a $1300 system the least we can expect is to have lifetime updates of the maps. Are the maps user upgradable?

Since you guys build a custom navi for the Genny, I have a question for you. I have the Tech Package and is there any way for me to add the Front Camera and Blind Spot monitoring? Do you sell the camera or anything to help with that mod, if thats even possible?

My car did have the Bluetooth function, and yes the bluetooth function does continue to work as well as all of my OEM functions XM, Steering Wheel Controls, Bluetooth, my USB posts I lost nothing and this is the beauty of the UNAVI all of the OEM functions are retained. Sorry to answer your question yes the bluetooth is integrated through the speakers, and I did not have a camera I'm using the camera that came with the UNAVI.

shagnat

Yes very much so, this is one of the things that caught my attention is as how good the screen is on the UNAVI, you can adjust it to be as bright or as dim as you like.

This system looks a lot like what I experienced on a new Buick, and if so is MUCH, MUCH better than what comes with the Genny. Although i love my Genesis otherwise (especially the smart cruise) I will not buy another one unless the display system is improved significantly.

Giant Robo, you obviously have electronic experience and are comfortable installing the system. I wouldn't be. Do you have any idea what someone would charge me to install it?
