If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi all, im new member! I just drove brand new 5 series, just wanna tell ya, genesis drives much better, quieter, smoother, more power.. Love my genesis

:welcome:
:grouphug: He made A Good Decision.........

I did the same before I bought my Genny. BMW = Bring More Wrenches anyway :) LOL.

Much better ride (for me) in the Genesis.

I dont agree but i wouldnt trade my genesis for a 5 series

I drove a 2013 550 a couple months ago. It's a very nice car, nicer than my Genesis. It had better be for double the money.

Well the onlt thing i liked about BMW 5 series is the interior, it looks better than Genesis, but it never drives as smooth as Geny, too firm no fun!!

just to be clear (im not bustin your chops and apologize if I come off that way)

I've seen too many posts on the bmw forums stating how good their car is and nothing is better. they are called fanboys. there too I disagree depending upon the variables.

Everybody has different tastes and likes different things, you prefer the Hyundai over the BMW due to ride/comfort.

myself I prefer the road feel of the bmw's over the Hyundai but imo Hyundai isn't too far behind in that regard.

looking at the full picture (in my book) bmw's aren't reliable and are costly (purchase and service). buying a 2012 rspec for 38k or 2013 for 40K your getting a bmw at 1/2 price but paying for less quality and better reliability.

Still if those were my choices I'd buy the genesis again. unfortunately after owning for a year its just too big a car for me. I prefer 3500lbs and more nimble.

I truly hope Hyundai releases a 3 series killer. DSG, TT, HUD, adjustable suspension, and nanny removal.

ppp

If a BMW 5-series with similar options to my R-Spec cost the same as the R-Spec, it would be a very tough choice for me to make. It would really come down to three things:

1) Do I go for the better ride/handling?

2) Do I go for exterior styling uniqueness?

The BMW "feel" is superior to the Genesis. They've been at it a lot longer, and they know what they're doing. But I see the beemers everywhere I look - the Genesis just looks better.

What? You only counted two things? Well... that's where #3 comes in to make my decision easy:

3) I'm not willing to pay two to three times the maintenance costs on the German product. Even at the same initial cash outlay. No thanks!

And since you're still paying that premium for the BMW, there's really no comparison FOR ME. But of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Actually you are right, every body has different tastes!! About the quality im not quite agree!! Because both cars have almost same quality and genesis to me has better coz as you know it has leather wraped dash stitched with nice details and every thing you touch feels soft, about 5 series it has no leather wraped dash and also the central console feels cheap because of hard plastics and the woody trim feels too fake.. But only the design of interior in 5 series looks more up to date and attractive.. And about new Genesis be sure all DSg, HUd adjustable suspention... Etc are included with it.

Maybe they have been longer with 5 series but Hyundai with a shorter time achieved to do smth as great as 5 series, so whats next for genesis!! Sure put the BMW owners to jealous

honestly yes... ;)

but the majority of bmw owners wouldn't dare be seen in a Hyundai.

All manufacturers are stepping up their game... Honda maybe not.

Hyundai really needs to branch off the luxury division.

So I ask the masses... how much would you spend for lexus like service ?

myself a reasonable number is +$2000 on the invoice.

For me, $0.00. I already get Lexus-like service from the people involved, but not the plush waiting room. My dealer's waiting area has flat-screen TVs, WiFi, computers, coffee, snacks, but in a modest-budget setting. The area is somewhat cramped, but that's because the dealership has outgrown their facility (due to sales and service success).

Ya am agree that hyundai should branch off the luxury, at the begining when they reviealed Genesis in 2008 they should have made the name GENESIS as the luxury branch name, and continue on that, for example now we would say Genesis Equus not Hyundai equus.. And they could put another name for current genesis.. All i mean they should branch off and make the name genesis the luxury branch.. But its too late now!!!

If they did that the current Hyundai Genesis Sedans would be the Genesis BH380, Genesis BH460, BH500, etc. That is how it works in Korea and is why there are no Hyundai badges on the Korean Genesis (and is why we can import the KDM Genesis badges and rebadge our Genesis sedans without the H).

Ya you are right i checked korean genesis now and they almost all have wing badges, i expect this to be applied in US too for new generation Genesis.!

Me, same as EXBMW, $0.00. Although the waiting room at my dealer is similar to what EXBMW states, I'm not in there long enough to worry about it.

I drop the car off, talk to my service advisor, and leave. When it's ready, he will text/call me and I let him know what time I'll be there to pick it up. When I get there, I go straight to him, talk about the work, then follow him inside and pay the bill. When I get back outside, the car is usually there waiting for me.

So why do I need to pay extra for a room I don't use? ;)

The two dealers close to me have pathetic waiting areas for customers.
Picture hyundai dealer mid 1990's crappy seats, one tv, no wifi, coffee yes nothing else
Tons of traffic thru the waiting areas.

But your right crusty if i go one time for every 10 with bmw. Its no big deal.
I rather be in a crappy waiting area then luxurious wasting many hours

Oh well
