  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just purchased a pearl white 2013 Genesis sedan with Saddle interior and premium package. Based on my experience with many other leather seated vehicles in florida I am interested in purchasing a pair of front seat covers and am focusing on Sheepskin. Does anyone on here have any experience with using this type seat cover? Anyone have any specific advice on which merchants to go through? It appears there are several reputable sheepskin outfitting companies on eBay that will do varying degrees of custom seat covers. I am open to other materials but do want somethign with a high end look. I am aware as are the merchants I've contacted thus far that any seat covers will require modifications for the seat mounted air bags. Anyone that has any pictures that would be great to visualize. Thanks, BTW I'm new on here as I just purchased the car 3 weeks ago.

I had sheepskin covers on a car years ago when I lived in a cold weather climate.

But if you are concerned about the sun in FL (as you should be if you park outside much) then number one priority should be a high quality tint job with a ceramic tint film (no higher than 35 VLT). You might even want to consider a 70 VLT for the front windshield.

Agreed, ... and already done. Whomever owned this car for the first 400 miles put some big money into some accessorizing including darkly tinted windows and windshield. I don't know the numbers or percentages of tint or the material but they are all very dark, probably darker than I would have chosen originally. Although I usually have my windows tinted to the darkest legally allowed but no darker.

^ If you want to know how dark your windows are, find an officer at a donut shot and ask him to do you a favor and tint meter them. That is what I did to find out how dark mine are :)

FL has very lax VLT requirements, and I don't think the police even bother checking anyone.

Florida Tint laws:
  • Front Side Windows: 28%
  • Read Side Windows: 15%
  • Rear Window: 15%

Compare the above to NY:
  • Front Side Windows: 70%
  • Read Side Windows: 70%
  • Rear Window: any

You guys are lucky, here you cannot have any tint on the front two windows or windshield without getting a ticket.

I don't believe there are any states that allow windshields to be after-market tinted except for top 6 inches or so. But if one has even a medium tint on other windows, some people get away with 70%+ on the windshield because it is very hard to even notice it. Same goes for front side windows in those states that don't allow it.

I've seen some ads for sheepskin seat covers in the back of the magazines like motor trend, car and driver and road and track. I had sheepskin seat covers on two successive Z cars. You can't beat sheepskin covers for comfort and coolness. Yes, the biggest concern is whether you can use them with the air bags. My 260 & 280 2+2 Z cars had no such safety feature.

If you install sheep skin seat covers don’t wear any dark clothing, because you will look like you have been sleeping with the sheep when you get out of the car.;)

Funny, but not accurate.
