If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone on the forum know how the drivers seat back panel comes off of the Genesis sedan/Rspec seat? Usually you just pull the bottom of the hard plastic outer shell and it will un-clip.

I do not think this is the way to remove the hard plastic cover from the back of the drivers seat on the Genesis Sedans? If anyone knows, please advise. Thanks.

PS - pulled up the seat schematics online, but it was not clear enough to see how to disassemble it.

Still cannot get a knowledgeable mechanic to let me know how the hard rear plastic portion of the seat back comes off the Genesis sedan.

So, can anyone that knows, answer if the Azera seat will fit into the 2013 Genesis sedan? I have a very damaged spine from multiple surgeries and would be very grateful if I could get an answer to this question and/or my initial question. Thank you in advance, Regards. Dan

I do not know off-hand, but I can measure the distance between the seat bolts vs. the Genesis seat bolts and advise of my findings tomorrow or Saturday if you want.....My dad has a 2012 Azera.

The hard plastic on the back of the head rest? I wouldn't remove that as it's part of the safety features in your car. In the event that your car should be involved in an accident the headrest rotates forward quickly to meet the back of your head, potentially reducing or preventing whiplash.

gameday22 -- I was referring to the plastic covering on the back on the drivers seatback. I need to see how the seat is structured/built in order to see if the bolstering on the seat can be modified. I was not referring to the head rest --- no way would i take that off ... as you mentioned it is a safety device. Regardless, thanks for reading and taking the time to reply. Dan

Scottdk - I measured the width of the tracks on a new 2014 Azera drivers seat today while at the dealers getting my 1st oil change at 3223 miles (just getting that 'break-in' oil changed out early since it is a free oil change).

Width to the outside bolt covering plastic clips was 20 1/2 inches (rear). I needed to flip up both plastic bolt covers and measure from bolt to bolt. I had the front plastic clips up, but did not measure from bolt to bolt, but i took a quick picture of the bolts to see if it matches my Genesis sedan.

The seat in the Azera is much better for me than the relatively flat, bolster-lacking Genesis Rspec sedan seat. The side bolsters on the Azera are bigger, and the seat travels closer to the steering wheel without my knees hitting the start button on the genesis sedan. Due to my spine issues I have to keep the recline further back than most people thus I need to push the seat as close to the steering wheel as I can, but the right knee hits the 'start button' dash area. The Azera dash is even on both sides of the steering wheel thus you can move closer to the steering wheel before the knee hit the dash.

This entire seat issue has not been a fun ordeal. I sure do not want to sell/trade a new Genesis Rspec sedan since it is a really awesome powerful yet quiet well built sedan. But I cannot drive much due to seat and steering wheel set-up. I drove a nice Lexus GS 350, and its seats are power bolstered and fit great, but no Lexus dealer close by, and the Rspec is still a very strong, well built quiet machine with great warranty and service here. So, trying to figure this out.

If you get around to measuring the length of the seat runners, that would be nice, but I doubt if the seat controls would work since Azera's are located on the door where the Genesis controls are located on the seat. Ummmm. Thanks for your reply scottdk. Regards, Dan.

Scottdk - PS: You and your dad both have nice Hyundai machines. 4.6 Genesis is a classic IMHO. Thxs again, Dan

Still cannot get some information on how to take the hard plastic seat back portion of drivers eat off. Need someone who knows how to do this since I do not want to damage it when taking it off. Thanks if someone has the expertise to do this. Regards.

For what it's worth, I remember seeing a tutorial/instruction/guide that was posted for repairing clogged seat cooling systems using PVC piping.

just found it here: http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=7636

it shows the seat back off, but doesnt say how it comes off.

probably not the answer you are looking for, but maybe it will help

KF4zra -- Hey, thank you very much for this information. I will take a look at it. Regardless of if it helps or not, I honestly appreciate your posting this information. Enjoy your 5.0L rspec .... it is a really great auot.

PS: After looking at the pics of the 2015 Rspec, the new seats appear to be much better than the previous seats, and they are different than the K-900 Kia seats.

OK, let me check out your site you sent ... thanks again ... Dan

This should help. http://www.headrestvideo.com/sbgenesis.pdf I have taken mine off and it is not so easy. For the right side of back while sitting in the rear push the plastic back hard to the left then pull. The clips are counter intuitive. After the two clips are disconnected at top it just lifts up and away.

Homeofstone - Houston, Apollo has landed.
