If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Loose Leather on Driver Seat

service visit yesterday... they will order a new seat bottom (either leather and foam or both)... didn't really ask the details. will let them mess with it when it comes in.

Will post pictures before and after when addressed.

2009 4.6 tech with 45k miles. Other than needing a good detailing, the seat leather is fine :D

something is up with the manufacturing process for Heated/cooled seats.

my passenger is fine... only driver side.
as one of the previous posts mentioned he identified multiple reasons why this is happening. Ultimately if loose leather is all I have to worry about with this car i'm doing great.

The leather/seats in the V6 are quite different from the ones in the 4.6L w/Tec package. The "super premium" leather seats are very soft and are prone to this "wrinkling" everyone is complaining about.

I prefer a firmer seat like the V6 but have NO issues with the super soft leather in my Genny.

The Tech package adds the same upgraded seats to both the V6 & V8 vehicles. Hyundai calls them "ultra-premium leather seating surfaces." If it makes you feel any better, the lower end leather seats, and also seat backs, often wrinkle too.

Dakota leather in bmw gets my vote. sure it will/was tougher, thicker, and not soft and supple... but it still looked like day 0 after 5 years.

perhaps Hyundai should call their leather upgraded over their stock leather. but not ULTRA PREMIUM... lol

My 2013 5.0 R-Spec, drivers seat bottom has stretched quite a bit for 9k miles, I took it back to the dealer and he said normal wear, no fix, all driver seats do that...

Reloader... That dealer is lying. Unless yours is the first Genesis ever sold in their dealership. Every cooled seat has had this problem from seeing all the posts scattered around this site. My dealer knew, without hesitation. Looks like for 2013, it did not get fixed.

Have had Genesis for almost 2 months and 2,000 miles and am noticing loose leather on both front seats but worse on the drivers side. When first oil change service comes up I am going to mention it to the dealer.

I have been into my dealer four times and they have not been able to fix my drivers seat. The only reason the passenger seats are not this way is because no one sits in them. When they do you can see the leather coming up but it goes back to shape. The service manager said he was going to call corp and get back to me. That was a month ago. I have called him and service multiple times and no return calls. Supposedly best dealership in Tennessee. Horrible service. I was sitting in the waiting room and everyone was complaining about their service. What a joke.

Do not live with the stretched seats.. There is another post where myself and many others weighed in. Some of us got things resolved.

However, now my drivers seat stretching is as bad as ever. And I carry passengers.. The right passenger seat is beginning to have the same problem. I will be posting shots of both seats over the weekend here and other old posts in the topic.

This continuing problem will put a serious wrinkle with their reputation and roll out of the new models.

My drivers seat is seriously stretched out, and has been so since 2000 miles. I mentioned it to the service adviser when had 1st oil change at 3000 miles. I'm going to get their attention now that the seat is looking pretty bad for a new car with 4500 miles on it.

Thanks for the input regarding the seat ... Regards

Let me know how it goes. Also, there was a post indicating using weak solution of dish soap in water, wiping that in seat , then use hair dryer to heat/dry will tighten it up temporary. Not a long term fix for sure.

I wonder if all these complaints will qualify for lemon laws?

What is frustrating... People been complaining for years about this. And the 2013 models has NO improvements. As the examples above show.

My 2012 Equus had the issue at 4600 miles. First dealer said it was normal wear and tear. I fired them and went to a second dealer. On second visit they replaced the seat bottom.

This is a serious quality issue that will likely lead to defections to other brands. I love the car otherwise, but will think seriously about getting another Hyundai product unless this issue is resolved for current and future models.

I am wondering if the problem is really the foam that gives too much, allowing for stretching of the leather.

Are the 2014s any different?

My Genesis 4.6L has the same issue, but, I'm of the belief it's just the super soft "premium/luxury" leather they use.

Now, I've not seen your seat nor you mine, but, I've seen pictures of other's seats who have the same issue according to the owner, and mine is just like theirs.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of those seats as I prefer a slightly firmer seat and better side bolsters. I drove a base 2013 Genny and loved loved loved the seats in it. It wasn't as "cushy" but it sure felt better on my back, plus it had side bolsters that somehow felt secure in keeping my butt on the seat :)

TE, I agree with you that Hyundai will lose customers due to their seats. The seats are lacking bolstering, and they also stretch and become mushy.

I did see where the seats on the new 2015 Genesis sedan appears to be much more bolstered. Will have to see. But I am ready to trade my new 2013 4500 mile Sedan Rspec due to the seats and its lack of telescoping wheel (1 inch telescope is inadequate, and they designed it to be more than 1 inch) . Everything else on it is great. Regards

I have posted pictures of before and after back in June, for the person above who indicated he has not seen my seats.

I will post new pictures here of both front seats. Also, I am seeing some stretching in the one back seat that is used. I take engineers with me to clients routinely. Also take clients out to other sites or meetings. That is likely why I am different than others who only have the driver seat issue.

Based in what I am seeing, disproves the thought it is the cooled seats only.

Well.. Been wanting to post new pictures of the wrinkles showing back up on the drivers seat, passenger seat, and now one back seat. I take my engineers with me to clients many times, so the seats are used enough to show me that all the seats have a problem.

I keep getting the error message when uploading a picture here that says: "your administrator has not changed settings to allowTapTalk to upload photos." So, no photos like I did before using the same app on the iPhone.
