  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will you buy the new 2015 or wait??

Personally I'm waiting until the 2nd year production run as a minimum to let them iron out some of the mistakes that are going to happen like they do with most re-models. I'd like to see some more reviews on it by R&T C&D etc., once they have had them for at least 20k+ miles.

Just my 2 cents on the subject, what are you all planning to do?

On a side note....

I'm really happy with my 2013 overall, great car :D...do you think they will update the current blue-link to operate a few more features in our existing cars or not?

I feel like the new model feature set is a few years late to the party. I'll give it until the 2016 MY for Hyundai to at least match its competitors. Otherwise, I will have to pass on the Genesis entirely.

I agree it's still missing a few things I consider more key for this segment, one of which is LED headlights and possibly the taillights now (they don't appear to be LED, only the blinker under them). Once you have driven a car with them HID's are sub-par. I recently drove my cousins Audi S8 and the LED's with auto high beam assist are just amazing....you can see objects clearly at 350'+. It also has the night vision pedestrian alert system. The LED's should be standard on the new Genny and a night vision option would be nice.

One of the other things that should be on the car is a fully functional Google Maps system with satellite and street view capabilities, it only seems to be utilizing Google's search functions. I understand car companies need to make profit but when I can buy a Garmin that functions as well as if not better than the built in Navigation for $99 with free lifetime updates + traffic something is seriously wrong.

I'd even be good if they charged like $99/yr and had 2 updates included. There are so many changes in our road system that maps rapidly become outdated and provide inaccurate information. If Hyundai truly cared about it's premium line and the customers this should be something they work on to stand out from the crowd. Map&Soft is horribly slow to provide updated maps, my 2013 is still using a map from over a year ago and there is no current update available.

Gameday, We do need to at least bring price into the talk. An Audi S8 is a car that STARTS at 110K! You can buy 2 or 3 Gennys for that. If you can afford that ante and want all the toys you should start with an Equus at least. You are looking at much better bang for your buck with the Genesis. You mentioned C&D in your post. They had an interesting exchange with one of their readers in the letters column. He protested that they had selected a Corvette over a Porsche which cost over 30% more. The writer said who cares about price anyway? The C&D editor replied that he would be responseable for the magazines new $72 cover price! Value is a BIG factor for me. Personally even if I had the money for a Merceedes E550 I would be reluctant to spend it with the Genesis or Equuis as a very viable alternative. (Maybe I'm just cheap!)

Definitely not without V8 AWD. I would also appreciate a more, dare I say it, "Cadillac" style HUD which featured night vision (and would be willing to pay the premium for that).

Billtz1, I agree with you. I got into a Genesis because it was a t a price point that I could afford to have features that are on much more expensive cars. I think that Hyundai should continue to offer great cars with the features they have for a good value. They should also offer all the features that some folks want at stand alone extra cost. This way they would not alienate a lot of existing and potential customers by raising the price point out of reach or at least out of their comfort zone. This is something that all the German brands have been doing for a long time. I personally can do without a lot of the features available on the Genesis currently and would not want the price of the car raised to incorporate more features that only some people want. I have priced out E class cars from $57,000 starting up to $145,000 in Canada. Hyundai should have more than 4 price points.( base, premium, tech and R-Spec in Canada) They might get more customers with this strategy.

I can't speak for all car makers but in general, 1st year model cars produced today are way better than their precedesors.
Granted they still do have a few minor kinks to be worked out but nothing like we used to see way back when.
I bought my coupe (2010) which is a first year model and I have had nothing but great things to say about the car, despite all the mods and tune done to her. The only warranty recall I had was a brake sensor switch. Other than that just regular maintenance services.

Depends a lot on the individual components. First year Genesis Sedan V6 (2009) had proven Lambda V6 engine and Aisin 6-speed Transmission (used in many other cars including Lexus).

I'll never buy a first model year car from any manufacturer. Too many kinks are identified worked out for the second and subsequent years. Is nature of the beast of any engineering project.

What features are late to the party or need to be matched?

The tech features appear current state of the art and ahead of the target vehicles - BMW for sure. The new suspension should come closer to a true road car and the interior looks more in the league of $50K+ cars. It may not be a home run, but on paper, it is not lacking and if the value component holds, it will do well.

By the time I'm ready to sell my 2013 Gen, I'll be looking at third generation models (2020?) So I'll likely be skipping this new design run altogether; not because of dislike rather I just dont replace my car all that often.

At this point in time I would have to say I would pass on the 2015 model. I really like the style of the first generation.

I watched the entire video...

honestly even if they put in a 600 hp V8... I still wouldn't buy it.

The problem is the size... the car is just too big for my liking.

Agreed. However they need to resolve that pesky V8/AWD/equipment issue for me, which could be more than a pesky issue for Hyundai's sales.

Don't discount the fact that today cars are in general, much more complex than their precedessor. Most of that have to do with electronics which are bound to break as we all know by now.
Mine is barely three months old so I have no execuses to buy myself or trade in for a newer model. If history repeats itself I may end up keeping this car until 2028.:o (My LS400 lasted 16 years until I traded her in for the Genesis)

Did I miss something?? Are the external dimensions bigger than the 2013??

I don't disagree that the technology adds cost, but Hyundai has proven they can do it for less if they choose to. I'd happily pay $1500-2k more to have LED headlights with high beam assist and a navigation system that is at least as good as the one on my phone....it's updated at least a couple times a year and doesn't cost me anything additional beyond my normal phone bill. While I think night vision would be cutting edge I do understand that it's very cost prohibitive, most of those systems run in excess of $3k even as an aftermarket product.

A man after my own heart - buy 'em new, take care of 'em, and drive 'em till the wheels fall off. Lease? Company car, maybe; personal car, never.:p

honestly no idea...

The existing car is too big so any gen 2 would be similar.

As others have stated...No 5.0 AWD-no deal. If Canadians can have the 5.0 AWD (according to several reports), they should make it available in the States.
