2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Guys, I hate to say this (and I know they're in different categories), but after watching the Super Bowl ads between the two a couple of times, the K900 looks better to my eye.

According to the Kia website, the starting MSRP for the K900 is $59,500 (available this spring). I assume that is pretty much loaded like the Equus.

Agreed !

GO SEAHAWKS !!!!!!!!!!

When seeing the K900 live at the auto show, I wasn't too excited about it. I mean it's a good looking car, but just doesn't give me that "I want to buy it" feeling.

When seeing the 2015 Genesis in person and actually got inside the car for nearly an hour (after going back to it every so often to give others a chance to look lol), it was a whole different feeling of "I want this, I love it".

Just got back from the Chicago Auto Show and all I can say about the 2015 Genesis is wow. Pictures just doesn't do it justice as it is absolutely stunning in the flesh. As soon as I got to the show, I made my way to the Hyundai display and there was a huge crowd of people standing around the Genesis and a line to get in the driver's seat. When it was finally my turn, I scrutinized every inch of the interior.

Let me say that there's simply no comparison between the 2009-14 Genesis and the 2015 Genesis. There's soft-touch materials every where. I know there was a debate as to which leather Hyundai is using for the new Genesis. I can't say for sure, but I think it is Nappa leather as it feels just like the leather in the K900. I can tell you it's some of the softest leather I've ever felt. I made a point to compare the Genesis' interior to all of its competitors(CTS, 5-Series, E-Class, Audi A6,Lexus GS) and it is more than just competitive; it's among the tops in its class. The bolsters in the Genny are plenty supportive, but when you power them up, you can feel the seat cradle you. I tried to wiggle around, but the seat held me in place, but did so comfortably.

I also made a point to check the travel of the power steering wheel and found that there is more than adequate adjustment there. I played with the infotainment system and found it to be really responsive. It also doesn't hurt that it has the best screen resolution in the class either, and believe me, you can tell. I forgot to ask the Hyundai reps about options, but the 5.0 had a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats and was RWD. You can take that for what it's worth, but I find it hard to believe Hyundai would waste their time "Americanizing" a Korean spec Genesis when they could just show the American spec that will go on sale soon.

Some notes about other cars at the show. I checked out the Acura RLX after finally leaving the Genesis display and noticed a few things. First, there was almost no one over there. It wasn't getting much attention at all. When I got inside, it was immediately apparent that the RLX's interior wasn't up to the standard of that of the new Genesis. The seats didn't have as many adjustments(the most noticeable was the absence of the thigh extension) and it didn't even have a power close trunk like the Genesis. Acura shoukd do themselves a favor and make a proper flagship, because the RLX is no flagship. I checked out the interior of the CTS and noticed that the thigh extension on the seats were manual. It's trunk was also tiny and had very cheap looking plastic covers for the storage cubbies. It also didn't have a power trunk. I checked out the Lincoln MKZ(comparable in price to the Genesis) and it was nice enough, but the back seat had absolutely no headroom. A guy got in the back and could not sit up straight. He said he was 6'2", but even me, a person of average size, had barely any room left. That's a tremendous oversight by Lincoln/Ford and probably contributes to its poor sales.

All in all, if the crowd that was surrounding the 2015 Genesis is any indication, it should be a hit. I suggest you all take a look for yourself. Oh, one other thing, I turned on the hazards and was disappointed to find that the front turn signals are not LED. I can tell you that the taillights are, in fact, full LED lights. The 5.0 had Hankook tires, but the 3.8 had Dunlops.

I am not suggesting that car you saw is going to be any different than one that goes on sale in the US (I don't really know). However, according to very reliable sources, any US model cars being displayed now at US auto shows are prototypes built a while ago, and actual production of USA models was to start in early February (right about now). Also, I would not be surprised if the Hankook tires don't show up on the US models.

Thank you for the sharing and good to hear that it has full LED taillights! Can't wait to see it in my eyes!

I emailed and asked about whether 2015 Genesis'll be shown in DFW show or not. They said, "Thank you for contacting the Genesis Customer Care Center. We appreciate your interest in our 2015 Genesis. Unfortunately at this time there is no information available of the 2015 Genesis being revealed at the show in Dallas Fort Worth. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause" on 02/02/2014

Hope they bring 2015 genesis in DFW show.

Hey, as I said, take it for what it's worth. Seeing hiw Hyundai moved to offering Hankook tires on its other models, it has a chance to make it here. I do hope they offer summer tires as a part of a sport package or something.

2015 Genesis in Chicago in 02/2014

No problem. I drove all the way to Chicago just to see the Genesis. It was a good excuse for a road trip. I know the next big show is NY in April. Road trip?

Nice, thanks for the info.

My pleasure. I can't remember(and am too lazy to look)if it was you that complained about the steering wheel travel, but I tested that because I know that's been debated. Rear seat room was class competitive with great headroom. The only thing I couldn't test was the HUD and the reason for that is the car needs to be on for it to display. You can tell the car had it, though. One thing's for sure, though, every one that saw the new Genesis and sat in it said it was a very nice car. I even had a couple chat with current Genesis owners and they said they were going to trade in their cars for the new one.

As much as I hope the car is a hit for Hyundai, I secretly hope it's a slow hit so I can get one without the demand that will effect selling price and availability of preferred cars.

My pleasure. I can't remember...

I was the one who wanted to know about the heated rear seat and steering wheel. Drpearso wanted to know about the bolsters on the front seat and the steering wheel travel range. I'm sure he will be grateful as well. Thanks again.

Has anyone found a list of auto shows where the Genesis will be appearing? I'd like to see one in person and I couldn't make it to Detroit.

Not sure where you are located but there is going to be one in Toronto Canada from Feb 14-23

I agree! Much better in person, and actually getting to test out the quality of the interior, I was in love with it :)

Now it's just time to test drive.

katman0-I would be interested to know if AWD shows to be standard with both engines at Toronto show. Going to Philly show next weekend but not sure the Genesis will be shown there.

I will check into that when I go to the show and get back to the forum

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I saw a video on Youtube of the interior color choices that would be available of the 2015 Genesis Sedan filmed at the Detroit Auto Show booth, now I can't find it anymore. It wasn't a professional video, but done by a visitor to the show. Does anyone know the link? Does anyone have an info on the interior wood and leather colors and combinations that will be available? The Hyundai design center online, only lets you pick exterior colors.

As much as I hope the car is a hit for Hyundai, I secretly hope it's a slow hit so I can get one without the demand that will effect selling price and availability of preferred cars.

It's already a hit in Korea w/ 18k pre-orders (Hyundai was hoping to sell 30k of the 2G Genesis for all of its markets in 2014 - so the Korean market already has gone over the 50% mark of what Hyundai had planned to sell).

When it was finally my turn, I scrutinized every inch of the interior.

Good to hear Hyundai has rectified things like the quality of interior materials and seat bolstering for the most part.

However, I hear that that the door lock/release is silver painted plastic and not metal which should not be the case (since it's an area that gets touched/handled a lot) on the Genesis, much less the Equus.

Thanks for the report.
