  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anybody programmed their Remote or the Door Handle Buttons to unlock all 4 doors with one push? I asked my dealer about this, but they don't seem to know how to do it.

Hey Canuk
See the quote below from the owner's manual. It's the door button that can be programmed - not the key. I intend to ask the dealer to do it during my first oil change. Has anyone had this done?

"NOTICE
An authorized HYUNDAI dealer can
change the system to unlock all doors by
one pushing the button in the driver’s
outside door handle. If you want this
feature, consult an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer."

At first, I thought I would have my dealer do this, however, after a few days of ownership, I learned how to use the buttons on the door, so now I will leave it as is.

My error at first was that I would push the button at the same time as pulling out on the handle. What I now do is I push the button first (once) then pull the handle. If I want to unlock all the doors, I push the button once, (pause for a half second) then push a second time.

I no longer have problems with it.

Canadian: I read the same thing, but as I mentioned my Dealer knows nothing about it and they claim they talked to Hyundai Canada and they couldn't offer any information about how to do this.

ctrcbob: I have been doing the same thing, but I have found that depending upon the timing, the second push will either open the other doors or re-lock the drivers door. It would be much easier if one push opened all doors. The same is true of the Remote.

My previous car was a company supplied Ford 500 and the owners manual gave instructions on how to re-programme the remote yourself to open all the doors at once. This is a popular request so I can't understand why it couldn't be done for the Genesis.

When you press the button on the passenger door once, all four doors unlock.

Good to know and somewhat logical, but that isn't really convenient as most times I am the sole occupant so will naturally go to the drivers door. I'd have to walk all the way around the car for goodness sake! :D

Has anybody asked their Dealer to do this yet or had success getting it done?
My dealer still claims that nobody including Hyundai Canada can tell them how to do it.

As well, most of the time I'm the only person in the car. Many times, I load a book, briefcase, etc. into the back seat as I'm getting into the car. I was also trying to see if there was a way to do 'one-push=4' until I realized that the way it's programmed actually has a great safety feature in it.

In this age of nut cases who know how to watch parking lots for people unlocking doors and then jump into the passenger side, I like the fact that I have to THINK to unlock all four doors. I then do a mental check of the area.

Bottom line- I like the eay it's programmed.

I think GM started using the same 'unlock logic' many years ago for that same reason along with the (more frustrating) 'autolocking' feature once the car starts moving. I guess I'm lucky that I live in a place where carjacking is something we hear of occassionaly on the nightly news. I don't deny that it is a good security feature but most carmakers do provide the option of programming the system to suit the user, usually from the key remote. In the Genesis Car Settings on the Tech Package, you can in fact defeat the 'autolocking' function, but cannot programme the one touch 4 unlock feature. A small thing, but something I find very useful.
