  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Cousin (2012 Tech) and I (2012 R-Spec) trotted on down to Tempe Hyundai this morning to view (but not test drive) the 2015 Ultimate. Here is what we noticed:

Car on display was 2015 Ultimate H-trac (AWD) 3.8

Nose is a few inches longer, more upright and reminded me of a Chrysler 300.
Doors & trunk lid are self-closing.
Rear windows have manual shade screens.
DIS is different and console is higher.
Lane centering/steering is standard.
Dash clock is old style analog (like square wrist watch).
Dash buttons are a bit different, esp. radio controls.
Steering wheel is a bit smaller and leather-wrapped, buttons very different.
Seats are different and comfy and drivers has leg extender (for tall people).
Heat and cooling in both front seats (didn't check the rears).
Styling is tasteful, a bit more angular.
Roof has full-length sun roof.
Engine is down a bit on HP but up a bit on torque.
On sale in May. MSRP in the $57,000 range.

Salesman said he wasn't sure they would be offering an R-spec but would have a 5.0 engine option in other models. There are apparently four levels in 2015 with the Ultimate being the top.

The car was a distributor car and not available for test drives (unfortunately).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
$57k for a V6 AWD. yikes. That's Acura RLX stupid. :)

At $57k it's way too much money for the car, a fully loaded 2013 3.8 can be purchased for around $30-32k. Sticker on the 2013 is $44,425 so were saying they added $13k for HTRAC AWD and the redesign of the vehicle?.....seems a bit crazy to me.

Are you sure that is a US production version, or is it basically a KDM/prototype brought over for the US auto shows? I was not aware that self-closing doors were coming to the US market.

Also seems that they be indicating that there will be 5.0 AWD?

The salesman said they had just gotten out of an introduction meeting and that this particular car was what was going to hit our shores in May.

I am assuming that is what he meant although he didn't say so in so many words. He just said that a 5.0 Ultimate would be available (and the Ultimate comes only in AWD).

Thanks. Wish it would happen. This is first time I have heard or read the word "Ultimate" being applied to the Genesis. Thought that was reserved for Equis. If 3.8 AWD Ultimate is $57K, that would put the 5.0 Ultimate in low 60's

I believe that there is an Ultimate version of Genesis on the KDM website.

Land Tuna,
I had a heart attack when you posted that the 3.8 Ultimate was going to be 57K.
Im not calling that BS, Im sure thats what you heard, but I did call the dealer to try to verify that since I am very interested in one.
The salesperson I talked to said they had one there today from 9-1pm. he told me that the 5.0 Ultimate was going to be mid 50's.
He further related that the 3.8 Ultimate was going to be around 48K.
He said they expect shipment in 4-6 weeks.
Did you take any photos?
He said it was a grey one with a taupe colored interior.
thanks

So the 3.8 Ultimate and 5.0 Ultimate may both be AWD.

I know the model specifications and pricing might be different here in Canada, but our available models for 2015 are the 'base' Premium 3.8 at $43k, the Luxury 3.8 at $48k, the Technology 3.8 at $53k and the Ultimate is only available as a 5.0and is $62k.All have AWD. No mention of self-closing doors or trunk on any models although the "Smart Trunk' (opens automatically if you stand close to it for 3s with key in your pocket) is available on the Technology and Ultimate models. US prices are usually about 10% less than Canadian.

What I reported was what the salesman told me. The dealer is an Autonation affiliate located in Tempe, AZ. The car was a dark silver exterior with a black interior and had CA Distributor plates. I did not take photos since I am not in the market to buy one. It was a nice looking car (although I am not fond of the faux Chrysler grill) but I am perfectly happy with my R-spec.

Yes. Salesman said the Ultimate is AWD regardless of engine size.

I have to agree. I never believe anything a dealer tells me that I can't independently verify, but presuming those numbers are true the car will be dead in the water imo. It would also be an impressive price hike from several angles. As gameday mentioned the year to year increase is huge. It would also represent a huge price range. Hyundai has publicly stated the Genesis would start under $40 for sure. That would mean they're going worse-than-German on their options pricing. $17k in add on with so much standard? (Previous info suggests nav is now standard)

The only way this would make any sense to me is if they decided to offer the full KDM version in the US; dual projectors with LED turns, rear entertainment, auto park, around view and all... even then it seems a few thousand steep for the V6 to hit $57 for the US market.

Then there's the issue of putting the V8 well into Equus territory when the Equus comes with the maint/concierge crap on top of being larger and already having most of the features.

I'm not saying that's not what you were told, but that just doesn't add up. Perhaps someone was trying to get you onto the lot for a '14 instead of waiting for a '15?

Funny that they say they will be here soon. My buddy who works at the import compound still has no date of their arrival here on the left coast. As soon as they do arrive, I'll be over to visit with him and look over the car.

Hyundai U.S. needs to get out in front of all these pricing rumors and speculation so as to not kill the demand before the car is here. I love my Genesis and the great dealer I have and expect to buy a 2015 through the circle program but if the 5.0 RWD loaded lists for more than about $53k which is $5k or so over the 2014 I'm out of here. I am looking to buy soon and will look again at the CPO Germans just in case. My last two BMWs have been OK and the dealer has been top notch. The other car that intrigues me is the Chevy SS. I had thought that the stealers would be marking them up from $46k list but I see them for sale at the $42k level. The car magazines give it a top rating and based on the G8 GXP and the GTO, the depreciation rate will be far better than the Genesis.

Everything I have heard is that dealers will get 2015's in May, so probably not going to arrive in port of entry until late April. I suspect we are a month away from that happening.

May availability is what the Canadian dealers are saying here also.
