  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will you buy the new 2015 or wait??

We have a lot of members here who are thrilled to own a used Genesis. I'm happy for anybody like Bill who can afford a new car every two years. Likewise, I take great comfort in the fact that I'm not taking a financial bath to do likewise.

There's nothing at all wrong with owning a car that's not new. One of my jobs here is to ensure that people aren't personally offending one another based on their financial status - whether that be the ability to purchase a new car every two years, not care to, or not be able to. If I see sparks, I like to step in before there's smoke or fire.

Unless you're just kidding around, it appears to me you're taking his post very personally. He's only talking about an automobile. He feels the 2015 automobile is a class or two above the 2013 automobile that he currently owns. Nobody needs to learn to live with a lower class status.

The Genesis in many ways is the last (well, 2nd to last next to the Equus) of the old Hyundai lineup - and pretty much across the board, there has been quantum leap from the previous generation to the current model (i.e. - Santa Fe).

Also, the 1G Genesis/2G Equus was developed primarily for the Korean market which tends to like their sedans drive like old school Cadillacs/Buicks - which is why when they tried to make the NA suspension a bit sportier, they ran into problems (also why the materials on the dash were a bit lacking since in Korea, the owner typically has a driver).

The 2G Genesis was developed w/ the world market in mind.

Naturally, automobiles should improve with each new generation. Some more than others.

^ True, but Hyundai/Kia have seen a quantum leap w/ their past cycle of new products.

Probably won't see nearly as big of a leap w/ the next cycle starting w/ the new Sonata.

I agree. And I agree with BillFisher's comment: "2013 Genesis is a class or two below the new model" - which perhaps could have been worded differently: "2015 Genesis is a class or two above the current model". :)

^ Going to make one caveat w/ my previous statement.

Probably will see a quantum leap w/ the new Tucson/Sportage.

Cannot see why the panoramic camera view is left out of the US version. I assume the cameras are already there for the safety features, so why not?

This is from the Middle East review version

I've been doing a lot of research on the 2015 and plan to buy one next year. The reason I'm waiting is 2 fold. Firstly the issue of working the bugs out and secondly (although I can't remember which article I read it in) the 2016's are getting updated seating.

I thought the 2015 had updated seating - what upgrades would there be in 2016?

I'm literally dying to get one...looks sweet in and out. What a beauty! And all the way positive reviews by the pros too? Bam! Winner!

As I recall, there were a number of features that were only in the Korean edition of the first generation Genesis, in part because it was considerably more expensive. It would be interesting to know how many features other than the aforementioned panoramic camera view are only in the KDM of the '15 Genny.

I will be waiting for the 2016 Rspec twin turbo V6 @ 500hp. :D

lol....while that would be nice you'll be waiting till He...double hockey sticks freezes over before that ever comes to market :D

Another thing is the Genesis is in a weird production cycle compared to other cars in their lineup, the Azera and Sonata both had better technology in them long before the Genesis somewhat caught up. The thing that still catches me is no blind spot monitoring even in a 2014...that's just dumb.

I think the rear seat entertainment and control stuff did not make it.

Unfortunately it did not however for similar (slightly more) more take a look at the Kia K900. Some really nice features above and beyond the Genesis. Heated cooled rear seats which recline, led headlights, all the features ++ of a loaded Genesis and V8 as standard power. http://www.kia.ca/premium-k900

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
No question that the K900 is going to steal some current Genesis and Equus owners.

Just did the exercise of what exactly is different in the 3.8, 3.8 awd and 5.0

$55,700 for the V8 which I selected as fully loaded

$49,950 for the V6 fully loaded however not available on this choice vs the 5.0 are.

1) Illuminated door sils
2) Led Fog Lights
3) Quad Exhaust Tips
4) 19" Wheels
5) CDCS Suspension
6) V8

$52,450 for a fully loaded AWD V6 with omission of the above items however the AWD option adds

1) Heated Steering Wheel
2) Heated Rear Seats

IMHO the Fully Loaded V6 AWD may be the biggest seller depending on location. Adding the few items such as led fog lights and illuminated door sils is usually a simple relatively inexpensive task. If you chose AWD you most likely will be in a snow bound area so keep the originals for mounting snow tires and by nice 19" wheels for the summer tires. Unfortunately you will lose the V8 bragging rights.

Most people in areas where it snows can get by all year long with AWD and all-season tires, without the need for snow tires. Maybe some areas such as Canada or Buffalo are different.
