  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will you buy the new 2015 or wait??

Going down to only having one emblem to replace is making progress. I guess they need some identification beyond the model and are probably proud to show its is a Hyundai to all.
When they first introduced the Genesis (and later Equus) to the USA market, their stated strategy was to use these cars to "build the Hyundai brand image" in the USA, which is still suffering somewhat from the disasters of the late 1980's. Although their image is rapidly improving, about 5 years ago they noticed that a significant number of Camry and Accord buyers never even considered (or looked at) a Sonata.

In Korea (and other markets outside of North America) the Genesis is sold as the Genesis BH380, Genesis BH500, etc with no mention of Hyundai (sort of like Lincoln is made by Ford but has its own brand name).

They should offer the rear logo as optional in customizing the 2015 Genesis. Select between the "H" logo, or the new "Genesis" logo.

Most dealers already do this and will be happy to oblige you.

They usually charge ridiculous prices to do it. Changing the rear badge is quite easy, and explained in detail on many other threads in this forum.

I already ordered my badge for the trunk under the assumption the mounting holes will be the same in 2015. A heat gun, some lighter fluid to reove any excess glue and 15 minutes of your time is all it takes. China normally takes a month for delivery and how can you refuse $12 delivered to my door. http://www.ebay.com/itm/310370054288?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I want to lease a 2015 Genesis, but I'm disappointed that Hyundai has put their "H" emblem back on the rear of the Genesis instead of the new Genesis logo they pictured initially.

Just out of curiosity - would one badge on the trunk (that you can switch) be a deal breaker for you? I'm thinking if so, there must be other things you don't like about the car.

There is a 2015 version of the trunk badge on ebay. The mounting holes seem further apart. A photo on the listing shows it is 8 inches in width, which is bigger than the old badge.
It is possible the USA version will have different mounting holes because I don't think the Hyundai badge is that big.

I just got a 2014 Equus and to sweeten the deal of this MSRP $60k plus car, the dealer generously offered to include the $12 Equus rear emblem. I am some tough negotiator.

Some dealers do...

My dealer said that they didn't have the winged badge, but they installed the one I bought on eBay. I honestly don't know whether I got it just because I thought it looked better (it does), or because I didn't want it to be obvious that my car was a Hyundai. :)

What did they charge You?

Although the 2009-2014 wing badges are official OEM parts, they are parts for the Korean version of the car, not the North American version. Dealers cannot get these parts from HMA (Hyundai Motor America), they get them from the same sources we do (off eBay, etc from people who buy them in Korea and import them to USA).

I guess if you negotiate it up front, they will do for free. There are some posts several years ago where dealers were charging a lot of money to replace them.

I know it might sound crazy, but for me that rear emblem is a near breaker for me.
I the thing I like about this car the most is it will have All Wheel Drive, where all the other Hyundai cars below it wont.

I really think the "H" logo makes the Genesis look like an obvious Hyundai Elantra/Sonata, they really should drop marketing "H" on the Genesis all together now that they have an official Genesis logo.

I'm going to see what I can do to get a 2015 Genesis with that Genesis logo on the rear, that looks nice. Makes me guess at what car that is that I see on the road, where as if I saw the Genesis with that "H" I would think its either the Elantra, or Sonata. I'm sure others will see the same.

Yes, one of the photo's in the listing has text overlay saying that the tabs must be removed, presumably because the holes will not match up on this larger wing. This should not be a huge deal, since many have installed the 2009-2014 front hood badge without the tabs, and it seems to stay on without any problems.

Hyundai has had a Genesis logo since 2008. I explained above why Hyundai Motor America wants to market it as a Hyundai in North America.

Changing the rear badge is easy, and thousands of people have done it themselves. The 2015 badges are different than those for 2009-2014, and can be purchased off eBay.

thanks for the info. I'll be sure to get this then. :)

Correct you are, I know I read somewhere they even made the wings wider and flatter basically changing the design so I guess the link you provided is the correct one. Definately a nicer design overall. Thanks.

PS. Anybody need a rear trunk wing for prior to 2015? Unfortunately even if I gave it away it costs less to order one from China including shipping than it cost to mail one in Canada now a days.

As can be seen here, they changed the overall look of the wings.

Newer 2015 style hood.

What's with the China shipping? Aren't they shipped from South Korea.

China, Korea somewhere over the pond anyway. Next time I will make it a little less specific and use the term Asia. ;)

Maybe you are not aware, but Hyundai is a South Korean company, and that is where the Genesis is made.
