In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Good day guys,

New genesis 2013 owner here.
I'm wondering if the daytime running lights (the front accent specifically) can be turned on without turning the whole parking lot lights on.

Cause i see lots of new cars have that feature and just the DRL front lights are on during the day but the DRL are making them very visible. Which is good as a safety measure.

Thanks

The actual DRL is the high beam bulb. You cannot turn it off. Your only option for the "eyebrow", is to turn on the parking lights, but then all your parking lights are on.

This question has been answered often here. Please search the archives and you will come up with the answer. The short answer is that the accent eyebrow lights are not DRLs. These accent lights only come on when the parking lights, or headlamps, are turned on.

I bought a new 2013 Genesis 3.8 with Tech package and it said it has LED accents but I cannot figure out how to turn them on. Is the stripe on the headlights not an LED light? All I can seem to get to turn on is a standard yellow bulb daytime running light. I got the tech package specifically because I thought they came with HIDs and daytime running LED stripe.

The DRLs are the high beam using low power. The cool frosted LED accent light is turned on when the headlight switch is turned to the first or second positions. But the first position leaves the DRLs on with the accent (plus tail lights). The second position is the headlights, accent, and tail lights (no DRLs).

From what I read, the frosted LED light isn't bright enough to be considered a DRL - it's tough to even tell its on during the day. I also wish that was the DRL.

Thanks for the clarification. I just tested the headlights in my garage. I moved 1 position down from auto and it had the frosted strip on, along with the yellow DRL light, and the HID headlights. I moved 1 position below that and only the frosted strip was on. I guess I can just keep that one on during the day and switch to the headlights at night.

As far as I know, there is no way to keep only the frosted accent strip on by itself.

The DRL light is warm white, not yellow. It comes on when you put the car in gear with the light switch off, or in the parking light setting. DRLs do not illuminate sitting in the garage. Suggest you park in front of a store window a run your exterior lighting through all the options.

I have a 2013 R-Spec. The DRLs come on as soon as the engine is started - period. Headlight switch can be in any position.

I sit corrected. DRLs do turn on when car starts. However, wchettel, DRLs do not turn on in the headlamp on switch position.

Anybody have experience with changing out the daytime running bulbs with LEDs on a 2013 genesis tech 3.8 sedan? Any tips on install or why this is a good/bad idea? Here is a link:

Here is a pic of how they compare to stock: http://www.ijdmtoy.com/BLOG/Showcas...ndai-Genesis-Sedan-high-beam-H7-LED-DRL-2.jpg

Those actually look pretty nice, but I am concerned about this in the description:

"Note: This H7 LED bulb is not designed for headlight illumination purpose, you can only use it for fog light or daytime light."

Does that mean it can't be used for a real highbeam? If so, not a good idea.

Nice find, though with HIDs as the main headlights I have never actually needed to use high beams much besides flashing them to get someones attention which these should do just as well.

Those are crap. They say you can't use them as a headlight because they just don't put out enough light. There are very high power H7 LED's that can function as a DRL and still be your high beam when you need them, but they aren't $35.

There are others on Flea-Bay, Amazon, etc. that are cheaper, but I've always been satisfied with V-LED's. Most I've seen are in the 1800 lumen range, about equal to a stock bulb, and around $90-$110. These are 2100 lumens (eye burners).

Thanks. Not worth it (for me).

How do they look as DRL's?

Yep, that's right. No need for DRLs when then headlights are on.
