If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Just bought one of the last new Canadian 2013 Genesis Tech models
I have a few questions please:
The suggestion elsewhere to use mode and dual together to change temperature from Fahrenheit to Centigrade does not work on this model... any suggestions

I expected the iPhone 5s Music to stream wirelessly or via bluetooth as it does on my wife's 2013 Santa Fe, but so far it only works using the Genesis supplied cable with an Apple adapter from the earlier iPhone connector to the small 5s charge port
The 5s iphone connected to the cars USB port in the arm rest box gives an error message ... format
I read in one thread that an upgrade may be available

The trunk unlock seems to be limited to only the key fob or using the drivers door switch. no ability to open at the trunk itself??

Braking creates a slight shudder through the brake peddle, I am taking it back to the Dealer to have them check it over
I appreciate any help on the above
Thanks
Derek

Give up that silly Centigrade stuff and admit that Americans are right to use Fahrenheit (or read the owner's manual or ask the dealer).

The Genesis audio system was designed in 2008, and even though it has had some minor tweaks since then, it is may not be as up to date as newer Hyundai models. They may have added Bluetooth audio in 2014, but can't remember if 2013 got it also.

This should be discussed in the owners manual. Put you hand under the trunk lip and you will feel a soft part that press up on to open the trunk, assuming you have the key fob on your person. If you talking about physically opening the trunk (instead of just unlocking it) it does not do that.

I thought that about my 2014 I bought a couple of weeks ago, at first. I then RTFM'd and discovered the trunk release is not centered at the trunk; (as it was in my '13 Sonata) it's off to the right side. Feel around to the right and you'll find that soft spot Mark_888 refers to.

Just plug your iPhone charging cable into your cigarette lighter port using an adapter. That will allow your phone to charge and your BT audio to stream. Or, just stream without plugging into the power port. Use your USB port for a low profile, stubby, thumbdrive.

I bought a 2013 a couple weeks ago and have the same issue with the brakes. Service department said that it could be some buildup on the rotors because it was sitting in the lot for months. I disagree and believe that one or more of the rotors are warped.

They said drive it for a few more weeks to see if it goes away. If it doesn't, they'll take care of it (though I will demand new rotors since it's a new car - rotors can only be turned so many times).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Funny, I just posted this observation in another thread. When breaking in a new car it is critical to go easy on braking for a few hundred miles until the rotors and pads get friendly with each other. If you do not do this, you risk damaging the rotors. Steering wheel wobble and brake pedal shudder when braking are the two symptoms of this damage.

AKA the "test drive."

Actually, I was talking about the post-purchase driving habits of new owners. Many folks want to stomp their brand new cars to "see what they can do." Not a good idea!

Thanks for the guidance and help.
I have had a good look at the two manuals and had not found anything on any of these issues. Mind you the index is pretty poor and the books are thick.
regarding metric:
Half the world is Metric. Although i have a great deal of respect for American technology, we don't all need to follow the US
I am taking the car in today to have them check things out on the brakes

thank you again

I agree with the break-in procedure for both new cars and new brakes. I took ownership of the car with 16 miles on the odometer. I drove home, at night, with very little traffic. I did not "see what the car can do" and have babied it for the first 520 miles so far. I plan on babying it for a while more. I noticed the shimmy on that drive home, the first time I pressed the brake pedal.

I also know not to hit the brakes hard (or even moderately hard) until broken in. I have yet to hit the brakes hard (or moderately hard).

This is either junk from sitting on the lot (unlikely) or defective rotors (likely). The test drive was on an loaner vehicle (for Equus owners) with 200 miles on it. That one had very smooth braking, so I know what it should feel like.

I'll give the service department their request (a few more weeks). Then she's going in to get new rotors. :)

I have the 2012 Tech - no bluetooth streaming - they had it in the base & premium, but not tech. I don't think that was changed for 2013.

I got used to it - I have an older 64 GB itouch sitting in the top portion of the center console.

Yes, BT streaming was added in '13 to the Tech package.

The dealer(Mississauga) confirms that the 2013 tech package should have BT streaming but the car has been in twice without resolving
The last time they said that all computer test results except this one was ok??
They have sent an enquiry to head office in Korea to get guidance
Any thoughts...?

Keep us posted. See if they or any other local dealer has a 2013 on the lot that you can try BT streaming on.

In addition to the "soft spot" to the right of the license plate (referred to by Mark_888) that you press on to open the trunk, there is a mechanical key built into your remote key fob. Press the small silver button to remove the key. The keyhole to open the trunk is to the left of the license plate. Look at page 4-9 in the owners manual. Note: steps 2, 3 & 4 only need to be done if you're turning your Genesis over to a valet for parking and want to lock them out of the glove box and the trunk.

I think it was 3 or 4 months before I had to figure that out...

Picking up my RSPEC next Tuesday or Wednesday, whichever it doesn't rain on lol. Dealer brought it in from Winnipeg. Last Titanium Gray (as of end of April) in Canada, and at the same time, there were only 4 silver and one white. Guess most of those have been snatched up by now.

Are you thrilled with the RSpec?
