Purchased a new Silver 2010 4.6l Genesis w/ Tech in December 2010 and just wanted to share my ownership experience so far. Almost up to 60k miles and below are the issues I have encountered. Wanted to see if anyone's ownership experience has been similar or if I ended up with one built Monday morning right after a long binger
I change my oil religiously ever 5k miles and follow the manual for regular maintenance. I am coming close to the end of the warranty period and am worried about owning the car past the warranty period.
Issues fixed under warranty:
-> Lexicon amp went out and had to be replaced
-> Front parking sensor gave up on life and had to replaced (btw if one goes out the entire front array gives up)
-> Steering wheel movement controller has been replaced twice due to wheel not moving up and down anymore
-> Entire steering wheel has been replaced due to leather peeling
-> Memory module has been replaced due to both seat and steering wheel being stuck in place
-> Seat rails have been replaced due to seat moving back and forth under acceleration and breaking
-> Replaced stalk/controller for lights due to flickering lights and headlights turning off completely when turn signal is activated
-> Lumbar support on driver seat had to be fixed due to it seizing
Current issues not yet fixed:
-> Steering wheel memory module not working so the steering wheel always starts off in my crotch area when I turn on the car
-> Driver side fog light bracket broken so fog light is not secure anymore
Some additional observations
-> Car goes out of alignment every 10-15k miles
-> Alignment issue causes the car to eat tires like they are made out of butter. I am on my third set of tires and second set of Continental DWS (I think those should last longer than 30k miles)
-> Leather on seats almost immediately started wrinkling and stretching and looks very poor on the driver and passenger side seats. I don't have a lot of rear passengers so those still look pristine.
-> DIS control knob feels pretty loose and felt a lot tighter and clicked more securely into place when it was new. I mainly use my steering wheel controls now as I am afraid of wearing it out.
-> At slow speeds like when stopping and then subsequently accelerating at a stop light the transmissions gets confused easily and likes to hammer in that first gear very abruptly.
I am not trying to dissuade people from this car but just wanted to share and see if anyone has a similar ownership experience.
