Ordered mine last night. Will be installing them next weekend.

So I got to install the collars on Sunday. I put the car on the lift and had all the tools on hand. It was a bit more of a project than expected. Not that it was intimidating at all. If everything fit right from the start, it would have been an hour job. But then again, if everything fit right, we wouldn't need these collars!! It ended up taking 3 hours and the collars provided for the rear most subframe bolts ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR did not fit for me. So I installed 7 of 10 collars. Uniq called me first things this morning and is shipping me thinner collars. Uniq said that they've shipped these collars countless times and was surprised to hear that they didn't fit. Being that I had the car on the lift with direct access to the bolts, I'm certain they didn't fit my specific car, but nonetheless, Uniq was great to deal with and is sending some replacements.

So with 7 of the 10 collars installed, I'll say if there is any difference in the ride, it is slight. Maybe it will change when the rest of the collars are installed.

It was only $100 so it was low risk.

Hey all I am preparing for my installation.

Does the rear sub frame really need to be removed on the Genesis sedan? Do the collars go on the inside or outside of the sub frame?

if i understand this correctly its 4 collars in the rear and six up front?

could someone provide me with a photo of the location of the bolts?

All my bolts had a reddish pink paint on them. They were easy to find. You just need to remove the plastic guard on the front.

I did find that it helped to jack up the rear suspension in order to line up the bolt. It might not be necessary if the car is on the ground, but mine was on a lift.

Outside of the plastic guards, nothing needs to be removed.

My car was on 4 jack stands, but I also found that I had to jack up the rear suspension in order to line up the bolts. I spent too much time trying to get everything back together but couldn't until I raised the suspension.

Ordered mine last week and got them installed yesterday, it took a trusted local performance garage two hours to install. but it looks like I might need a wheel alignment (1-2 degree slight pull to the left).

I have put 75 miles or so and I agree with everyone, that this mod provides a remarkable transformation. Even the Mrs. loves how the car "hugs the road" now and she insists that a set for her 4.6 2009 Geni is in order (I guess she would have to wait for her birthday ).

Here are my impressions so far, the car now;

- Glides over any road imperfections
- Big pot holes does not transfer to the wheel / body.
- Cornering is much more stable in the new configuration.
- While testing hard breaking, ABS is far less intrusive.
- And here is the best part, hard acceleration the ESC intrusion is almost none existent!
- I was not able to recreate the left turn 'dead pedal' issue despite me trying very hard to do so.

All this on the crappy stock Conti tires!

I have driven the 2015 3.8 Ultimate, the 5.0 and the 5.0 Ultimate (in all three suspension modes) and in my option this mod stabilizes the R-Spec to somewhere between the 3.8 and 5.0 except the R-Spec is slightly more spirited than both of the 2015 flavors (to be expected due to being 400+ lb lighter )...

Highly recommend this mod to anyone who suffers from a poor ride quality and or would like to address some of the ESC deficiencies found on the G1 Geni.

Would be amazing if this was an actual factory item without spending thousands to upgrade the suspension on a higher model

Update: Had a friend of mine who owns a 2012 R-Spec and 2013 3.8 drive my R-Spec and he too was impressed with the transformation.

Without me telling him anything, he said something to the effect of;

'My goodness this thing now drives like the 2015 5.0, good thing I did not get one, because I still think the R-Spec is faster!'

So... anyone who would like to sample the difference before taking the plunge (especially if you have an R-Spec as I can not speak for 3.8/4.6 benefits), I propose a test drive the 2015 3.8 / 5.0 is in order to get a feel for what difference this upgrade will make to your vehicle.

As a bonus one may also get a feel of how the ESC intrusion will behave in the new setup (YMMV).

Ordering a set for the Mrs. 4.6 (so I can get her of my back! )...

received my collars last night and got them installed today.

installation took longer than i expected working from jack stands in the garage. had to bite the bullet and buy an impact wrench. These bolts are just too tight to work with without the gun from the floor.

To my surprise the rear was actually a bit harder to install. I had to jack the tire up some like others to get the collars to align.

I am very happy with the finished product. The car drives a ton better in my opinion. Well worth the $99 and 2 hours of effort.

It is still in transit , I am hopeful it will arrive before the weekend, so I get her 4.6 into the shop (and help a little if they let me ) to get it all done during the weekend and promise to report back as soon as I am able.

If nothing else, so we can drive hers a bit more during the weekend as she has done less than 1200 miles, while I have done over 5000 miles in the R-Spec during the last 5 months!!

UPDATE: last weekend we drove up north on 85 so I had the cruise engaged and I must say the breaking appears to be far more settle that it used to be before the upgrade, to make sure it was not a one off, I have been driving with the Cruise control in town as much as I can, just to see if I can detect the same feeling?

Sure enough the breaking is far smoother, where before the car in front slows down, the breaks come on and you lurch forward, while now the experience much more nuanced, i.e. the breaks come on, but the impact is a much more gentle chassis movement which translates to softer sensation / impact in the cabin for me as well as any passengers.

Any auto garage worth their salt, should be able to get it done under 2 hours. Here in ATL the average hourly rate for a good mechanic is around $80.

The key is to explain exactly where the collars are installed, which have been mentioned earlier in the thread (In summery: 6Rs in the front, 2Rs in the back nearest the bumper, F goes in the passenger side and the unmarked U / thinnest goes on the driver side of the remaining bolts),example;

i hate to add confusion but are you sure about the placement in the above chart? Everywhere else i have read shows the U and F collars on the front sub frame.
