If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Is sales or service experience different for a new Genesis?

Since I may purchase a vehicle that costs considerably more than most other models a the dealership can anyone comment. I am not expecting a "posh" experience, but if I am paying almost double what a lot of other models cost is there an expectation for more attentive attitude, regarding the purchase experience, service issues, loaner cars, etc. What has been your experience?
Any red flags related to finding the most attentive dealership?

Some dealers do treat Genesis owners a little better than others at the service department. There is no requirement to provide loaners to Genesis owners, but some dealers will do it. But keep in mind you will trumped by Equus owners who get concierge service.

Sales experience is likely to be similar to purchasing any other Hyundai, but it varies quite a bit from one salesman to another, and from one dealership to another.

My salesman handed off a couple that was looking at an Elantra to another salesman so that he could deal with me. His business card also said Genesis/Equus specialist on it. Because of the specifics of the situation it's hard to say. I had an appointment and we had already talked price on the Genesis and my trade, I had also driven a little over an hour so all of those things could have come into play. I was showing up to see if I liked the gray interior in person and buy it or leave it on the spot.

Regardless of whether buying was a better experience than if I had been buying a cheaper Hyundai it was a good buying experience, so I can't complain. It's my first Hyundai and was also my first time with that dealership group, but it was an above-average experience in general. Take that for what it's worth.

As for service, I haven't yet had the pleasure and I'm honestly a little bit worried. It's the same basic engine as the previous model, but I've only seen 2 now in my area and I think I was the first in the area to get one. I don't want to have the car that they "learn" on, but we'll see in about 2000 miles how that goes.

What exterior color came with gray interior. I loved the monticito blue and dealer had it with a gray interior (Tech 3.8 awd). (my other car is a white Subaru outback with a beige interior. I thought the gray would be a nice change and am very pleased the the color combination.

I received the same treatment in the Sales Department as I did when I purchased my Elantra and Azera previously. Nothing special at all. I am expecting the same from the Service Department. I heard there was a dealership up north somewhere that bifurcated their Genesis and Equus sales from the rest of their Hyundai fleet and the customers received special treatment including a nicely appointed area for sales and service. Sorry I can't remember the specifics on what dealership that was.

I'm not sure, but I think only certain techs work on the Gennys at my dealer - otherwise things seem the same across the board but I've only bought Gennys there.

We leased a Lexus for my wife last year so that experience is fresh in my mind.

We also looked at BMW and Audi before buying the Genesis.

Much nicer physical space at the Lexus dealer. I shopped my Genesis at 3 dealers. At 2 the sales people were awful. At one they didn't even offer to unlock a car so we could see the interior. Very inexperienced and not at all knowledgeable. At the third, the sales person was much better.

The sales people at Audi, BMW and Lexus were much more experienced and knowledgeable.

Selection was poor at Hyundai, not all colors were represented.

A lot of the way you're treated in any car store depends on how you present yourself. If you treat it like any other positive shopping experience you'll be treated with respect.

If you are combative or argumentative, you'll get poor service.

This is true at my dealer also. I was told once the Genesis techs don't come in till 8:30am the others at 8am when I arrived early for an appointment. My service tickets only show one of 2 tech names all the time even when I had my 2011.

Mine is black on gray 5.0 Ult. I wasn't sure I would like the gray from pictures, but I liked it a lot once I saw it in person and I went with it.

My dealer also has free loaner cars. If you get the extended warranty, you get a free loaner also with some exceptions.

"A Hyundai HPP extended warranty gets you back on the road with rental car reimbursement, in the event your Hyundai requires any covered repair. Depending on repair time, you will be reimbursed up to $35 a day for up to 10 days."

I was the first 2015 Genesis they sold so I felt a bit special in that regard. The service department at that particular dealership makes you feel like you are bothering them when you call so I'll probably get service at another dealership.

It always amazes me how some service departments can be so tone deaf with how they treat customers. I know that occasionally a customer can be in the wrong, but good service experience is good business. They should be made to read comments on websites like this.

Varies depending on dealership.

Some Hyundai dealerships have built out a separate luxury waiting lounge for their Equus and Genesis sedan owners (who get the code to enter).

Generally, probably will find better service w/ a Hyundai dealership that sells the Equus.

+1
Going to an Equus dealer is a great call if you're going for that service atmosphere. I'd be curious to know if the average selling price is a bit higher at those places or whether the fancy lounge atmosphere gets them a few converts from mainstream luxury to pay the bills with volume.

Sales experience was average, but service department does treat you differently. They have Genesis and Equus reps that are assigned to you and make sure you are taken care of. I was very impressed and deal with the same person every time I go to the service department.

Thanks Jutdean.
That is interesting to know. Do you other members know if this is nationwide or on a dealer by dealer basis?

When I came to dealership,I though I knew what I want ,and if they won't have it,I'll wait until they order.
I wanted Montevcito Blue, with beige interior AWD with all 3 packages.
First they convinced me that in FL no need for AWD,and RWD handles as good as AWD,they offered me a test drive to see myself. Since the only car with all 3 packages was in showroom, they did a little car moving around:) and I drove on. Since the first moment I felt that this is something unbelievable. The car was white with dark interior.
I was trading in 2012 Sonata 2.0 T Limited, and she has blue color with beige interior too.
After an hour I started to look differently at this color and interior,I couldn't make up my mind. They gave me the car for evening to drive home and see if I like it and when I bring back next day,if I don't like, they will order what I like. They said it's because Genesis selling so fast that they can't keep up with new cars. I drove home, and I changed my mind. It happened 3 days ago,so now I have white Genesis, but it looks really good
the black roof, goes well with the white color, they also tinted the windows while we were doing paperwork, and I didn't have to pay for it. I felt like I am VIP there, the manager wanted to give only 15,500 for trade in,I said no way I want at least 18 K,he said couldn't do that much,so we agreed on 17 K and 1000 off the price of new car:))
So I would say I got very good deal with 5% financing only:))
I did also put some money down as well, but it's all worked out well for me. Just got the Genesis logo, going to put that on trunk and also waiting for my fog LED lights to arrive,so I can install them:))
